But there's no Info saying Majora's Mask is coming.
If you think I'm lying look in VC-Reviews: Coming Soon.

Anything in the coming soon list has gotten proof that it is in fact coming soon, meaning it'll most likely be released within a few months. This includes press releases, age ratings or similar. Games get added to that list by time as their releases turn up in the horizon, so a game not being there does not mean its not coming.
There has even been one case, Donkey Kong Country 2, where the game was released before it turned up on the coming soon list.
Majora's Mask in particular is a game that will be released sooner or later, there's no way to deny it. However, it can take long. It can take a year or two, or even longer.

Track down a Zelda Collector's Edition disk for the GameCube (it will play in your Wii). It has Majora's Mask on it, and in 60Hz for those in PAL regions too :D

Sorry, but the Collector's Edition version of MM is terrible. Music sometimes skips or lags, it sometimes has difficulty loading areas, and worst of all, THE GAME RANDOMLY LOCKS UP. I'm glad I still have my N64 cartridge.
Besides that though, the other games on Collector's Edition work fine.

16th June 2007, 04:08 PM
My Collector's MM never froze on me. The music only lagged while loading new areas because it was slower to load than on the original cart. I daresay a Virtual Console release will have the same problem.
Drake
16th June 2007, 04:42 PM
NST handled the Collector's Edition port, I think EAD is handling all the VC releases. It probably will be fixed.
Once, I cleared Snowhead Temple, tons of sidequests and half of Great Bay Temple without saving, and it froze on me. Never touched C'sE MM afterwards.

Virtual Console has the load-direct-from-memory thing going for it, which should probably help a lot compared to loading from discs.

I'll repeat what I pointed out somewhere else on here, I know it's common sense, but obviously it needs pointing out.
1. A game was made on a Nintendo system.
2. The game was released in your region.
3. The game has no licensing issues (Disney game, made by Rare, etc)
4. The game was made by Nintendo themselves.
5. The game is part of a well-known franchise.
If all statements are true, the game will be on the Virtual Console.

You can wait a while then. It's the last Zelda game they've got left to put on VC, they're not going to throw out all Zelda games right away.

I never played it before, but obviously played Ocarina Of Time - So is it better, worse or the same?
Drake
14th July 2007, 10:06 PM
Ocarina of Time is overrated, I personally think it's the worst 3D Zelda. Majora's Mask, however, is the best. Let's see what it has:
-Compelling storyline
-Loads of character development (Characters in OoT are all extremely uninteresting)
-Interesting gameplay mechanic (I don't find it annoying, some do though)
-Brilliant dungeon design (Some of the best in the series here)
-More and better items
-Lots of fun sidequests
-A better soundtrack than OoT
I say the only area where OoT beats it is boss battles - Those in MM aren't really too hot.

Even though I think OOT is better I agree with all of your points apart from the soundtrack.

By "Interesting Gameplay Mechanic" do you mean that 3-day cycle thing I've heard about? And does that not get very annoying, especially if a part of the game is particularily difficult?
Drake
14th July 2007, 11:00 PM
Yep, I do mean the 3-day cycle. It's very neatly implemented - Various stuff happens on various days, and people all have routines for the 3 days that they repeat when you reset time.
There's two secret Ocarina songs that help you though: One doubles the time per day, one moves you ahead 12 hours, both are available from the beginning. If you use the first one you shouldn't run out of time before completing a dungeon. There's even a speedrun around where somebody beats the entire game in one 3-day cycle!

I think majoras mask was better than ocarina of time, there is a lot more to do and is a lot more difficult but i love ocarina of time also.
It will definately come to the VC but no one knows when, perhaps they will surprose us with it soon *crosses fingers*

Well, the gameplay in MM is far more suited for lots of sidequests than OOT because of the 3 day cycle. In OOT it felt like very few things changed what happened seven years later. I've completed the game myself and also found all the masks *cough* GameFAQs *cough* and I think that it's a really good game. It will probably make it to the VC so clear up those 300 blocks that is needed and wait ;)
The game is large, probably the best looking one on N64.

i really hope that MM comes to VC i enjoyed the game
i have it on the collectors disc and yes i found that it had a lot of bugs and was crashing a lot,so what i did was save it as much as i could so that when it did crash,i didnt lose too much
the collectors disc was the first time i finished the game and i got all the masks
hopefully the VC version will correct all the bugs that was in the GC version

Sorry, but the Collector's Edition version of MM is terrible.
The PAL VC release will run at 50Hz instead of 60, so I'd stick with the GC port.

Majora and Windwaker are the best Zeldas! YOHO!
ok its nice to have the medieval hyrule and all that in zelda 1,2, link to the past, ocarina, twilight princess, blahblah.. but with TP i had definately enough of that! was gettin a lot bored of that one. too much of the same.
Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker are the only true Zelda 2 and 3.
They add to the story, characters and gameplay of the zelda universe a lot.

Gimme! I just finished watching Gametrailer's last year's Zelda retrospective series, and, from what they've shown and said about MM, it sounds like a very enticing title to play because of it being so different.

I never actually played this game, i heard it is different compared to the standard titles. ive even read that it was compared to zelda 2. Can anyone give there review of the game to clear things up for me?

Majora's Mask facts
- It's more difficult than any other Zelda, except Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. It's not THAT hardcore.
- It has more puzzles and secrets than every other Zelda, except The Wind Waker. Wind Waker is arguably on the same level.
- It has the creepiest environments and the moodiest music.
- It's not about Zelda and Ganon (this was cleared up in OoT). It plays right after OoT, in a completely different world and it's got the darkest story. It evolves around the main Hyrule/Ganon story and places Link in a world where a giant overfiend is approaching.
- It has a time system unmatched by any other game to date. You always play the same 3 days, using the ocarina of time to start again at day 1 (because on the third day the world and everything is about to get crushed by a giant falling moon, so you won't that to happen) You can also look in the sky the whole three days and watch the moon slowly coming nearer. An amazing effect. The three days flow in semi-realtime.
(24h ingame = 40 min realtime) x 3 days = 2 hours of ingame realtime.
30 people live in the town and everyone of them has a life. Yes, a simulated life. The postman does his job everyday, the people around the town do their work and much more. You have a book where every quest and their timeline is written down. On the second day it always rains and on the third day people start to run out of town. It's kinda like an Armageddon setting. I love it. And the ocarina has songs where you can speed up the time (a half day) or slow it down so you got 4x more time. So you won't run out of time, when you're, say, in the middle of a dungeon. A little advice: you should always play the 4x time song when youre about to start a dungeon (and of course early in the morning on day 1), because if you don't you might run out of time and have to try it again. That's the one complaint many have. But they didn't play Majora properly, so they would know you always have enough time. In other places, you'll have to wait until something happens (a store opens late in the night, some actions only take place in ceratin places at certain times). Yes, this game lives.
There are parallel time lines as well. It's not to complicated. Sometimes you have to decide what to do and thus you follow a different timeline. And you have to do it all over again to see what happens if you tried semething else.
- The second big feature are the masks. There are 30 different masks to collect, each of them with their own special abilities. Some of them transform you into different beings, while others give you special moves or allow you to make people/animals/monsters react different. There's a mask for dancing, a mask for running, a mask that makes Link sad, a mask where Link can't sleep, etc.
- This is a big and complex game. Not for people that started with Twilight Princess..
It's just overwhelming! This game is outstanding! If one game is remembered for being genius, in a hundrerd years of time, it's Majora's Mask!
And right now I'm beating it 100% for the fifth time.

Quite honestly, I really enjoyed Majora's Mask. Believe it or not, it was the first Zelda game I really finished. This was because I had not owned OoT before then (I got it later for free) nor had I been that big of a fan of the previous titles. I love them now and curse myself for it, but hey.
It is another odd one of the bunch, not following the "true" Zelda formula, but it is still very much worth a play.
I have the Gamecube Collector's Disc, so I don't need it if it does come out for VC. I'm dong the same with OoT. They play better with the GC controller anyway (I've tried it with the Classic Controller, it stinks), plus it has rumble on the GC.

Then your not playing the game properly, if you slow down the flow of time as soon as your start day 1, get some fairies in your bottles and head for a temple right off the battle the temples are very very beatable. You can beat every temple easily in one 3 day cycle.

2 hours is still quite long even with the fairies which are not hard to get once you know where they are I can do most temples in about 1 hour but that one usally takes at least 2 hours.
