Nobody knows yet except Nintendo, and even they may not have a release date for it. There are no confirmed dates for VC releases apart from some Turbografx and the odd other game e.g. Super Mario Bros. 3 in the US. We'll just have to wait I'm afraid...:(

Most likely a long time because it's the last VC Zelda game.

Plus, it came out for N64, and Nintendo is only giving us 1 N64 game per month. It'll be a while.

From what I heard, was the Gamecube disc that contained four Zelda games had a rough emulation with MM anyway? That could be the reason it's being halted. I can be wrong.

The GameCube disk included a better emulator than the one present in the VC. It had rumble support, run at 60Hz on PAL systems and some graphics were altered to show the GameCube's control scheme.
By the way, you seem to forget they've released Ocarina already, so this disc can't be the reason they're still not releasing Majora's.

Well except Majoras Mask used the expansion pack, not Ocarina.

But wasnt the GC MM a bit glitchy?
False.
The only problem in MM is the audio that has a brief clipped noise somewhere, I don't remember, it's something that happens often, though, like opening the inventory or something like that that is done several times, so the noise is actually frequent through the game.
But it isn't anything that harms your ears, your sanity or the gameplay.
It can be annoying of course, and those who feel bound to the original will surely get angry every times it pops up.
So, the problem exists, but it isn't a real problem.
Keep your feet on the ground.

13th November 2007, 09:52 PM
Well, I played trough the entire game on the GameCube and didn't hear any soundglitch even once, and they're even warning the player about a slight noise when loading the game.
Though I've heard of people having really buggy versions were the game freezes and stuff like that.

On one hand it has a lot of demand going for it, but I wouldn't wait up for a while. It might be a little hard to emulate too, what with the expansion pack thing on the N64. It's an amazing game though, and it's something that everyone would want to buy. Really it's a shot in the dark. I don't want to make any promises either way, because really the chances are about equal.

The Expanison Pak is for having additional 4MB RAM on the N64.
I suppose, the Wii has these additional 4MB RAM right from the beginning, so this is certainly not the reason.
Majora's Mask is just waiting for the right time.
Yo, you Zelda fanatics, there are 10 Zelda games you can play on Wii.
Have you beaten them all? If you can't wait for Majora try one of these instead:
1. The Legend of Zelda (VC)
2. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (VC)
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (VC)
4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (VC)
5. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
6. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC)
7. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (GC)
8. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC) *
9. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (including Master Quest) (GC)
10. The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition (four Zelda games including Majora's Mask, Wind Waker demo and GC/GBA trailers) (GC) *

the graphics in MM are better then in OoT.It was the first n64 game to need the expansion pack, the only way the game could function.due to it's beautifull graphics.the expansion pack came along with the game at the time.I would say that yes, there's definetly been an improvement.

I remember Majora's Mask having a painful framerate in its PAL version, and that observation was made after getting used to Ocarina of Time.
If they release this game on the VC retaining its PAL speed and framerate, it won't be as pretty and enjoyable as the 60Hz edition in the compilation.

Well, there's no Zelda 3 in the compilation, since the GBA port had just been released.
Well, I got ZELDA 3: A Link to the Past + Four Swords on GBA at that time.
But I'd like to play Zelda 3 on the TV and I want the SNES feeling without Link's screaming, so I will get it on VC later.
I couldn't get the Collector's Edition anywhere at that time.
I was lucky to get a complete, but used copy this month.
But I also downloaded Zelda 2 last week.
A nice Zelda collection on Wii would be the best, so I'm getting 1+3, too.
But I like to beat Zelda 2 again first.
The Rumble-cut in OoT and Majora still keeps me from loading them.
I can wait until Nintendo updates them with rumble support,
since I have good versions of both games on N64 and Gamecube.
And Majora is definately my top-choice. It's genius. It's maybe the most notional and best-planned action-adventure game ever.
It's dark and moody, challenging, adventurous, scary, and it's living.
It's time-mechanic is lovable and unique. The setting is fantastic.
When all hype is calming down in ten, twenty or fifty years, Majora's Mask is The Outstanding Zelda Game!
When I first played it, it was absorbing and frustrating because the Zelda world got destroyed several times. But the frustration of doing 2 or 3 dungeons 2 or 3 times was a relief with every new puzzle you solved, every new item you got... and basically, what I'm just saying: Keep at it. If you really give up, I'm personally coming to help you out. :p

it's surely the best zelda game, and people say it's not as good as ocarina and wind waker, because they simply don't get how genious this game actualy is.
It's a beautifull game, with it's incredible light efects. And it escapes from the land seen in all zelda games, and come up with a tropical world, with jungles and heavy rain. And beauty is a word that can also be used to describe the music, much better then in ocarina.
This is also the most chalenging 3D zelda game so far, even with the small number of four dungeons.

I kinda doubt that, as the DS isn't home to traditional Zeldas, but then again, they may remake it ala Phantom Hourglass style (who wouldn't like that... oh yeah, people who wouldn't like the original game). But seriously, I don't think they are going to do it as Majora's Mask is one of Nintendo's least casual appeal games out there, so while they MAY remake a Zelda for the DS, I don't think it's going to be Majora's Mask.
P.S. Who here would love a remake of the first 2 Zelda games in a compilation for the DS? BTW, I want them Phantom Hourglass style (I've heard it plays great), and I want a TON of extras. But enough about me, what about you guys?

Probably, it also has emulation errors on the collection disc, as well as the collection disc being less accessable than digital distribution.

Probably, it also has emulation errors on the collection disc, as well as the collection disc being less accessable than digital distribution.
If by emulation errors you mean minor dips in sound now and again while the game loads. Hardly earth shattering stuff and you've no guarantee the same wouldn't be present in a VC game.
There are 22 copies available on ebay right now and with the average price around £15 then you're paying the same as it would cost you for this and OOT combined on VC plus you're getting Master Quest Free as well as (importantly for PAL gamers) 60hz versions of Zelda 1 and 2 as well.
Like I say, its a totally unecessary release at this point and I'm glad that, for once, Nintendo is favouring diversity over wringing every last coin out of the same old games.
Not to mention the benefit of having a game on disk instead of the increasingly cluttered Wii internal memory. I'm over the moon that PAL regions get World of Goo on disk. I'd gladly pay more for it that way.

The PAL version of The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition includes Master Quest?

Master Quest is from TWW Limited Edition, not Collector's Edition.

I know. The guy I was responding to implied that they were all on the same disc.

My mistake. But the rest of my point is valid. Four games all properly Pal optimized for around a tenner is far better value than 3000 points (£21) and you then don't have to worry about storage problems or the fact that the Nes VC games have ugly borders and run slower.

Aye, but I bet the collection goes up in value in the coming years. Afterall, it was a promotional release thing...

Hopefully soon. But I don't really need it since I have it on the Zelda: collecters edition. And what do you think of the idea of storing games on your Gamecube save things?

A better idea would be to allow you to store your Wii game saves on GC memory cards or some sort of Wii memory card. True some of them are only one block but something like Eledees has a block size of over 100 blocks.
I think that the lack of N64 releases is very much down to Nintendo's knowledge that the Wii's memory capacity is just hopelessly small.
It's going to be internesting when it begins to impact on Wiiware sales and people (and more worryingly develpers) give up and switch to the 360 instead.
If I had to download Mega Man 9 I know which format I'd choose and it wouldn't be the Wii version.

Its ludicrous I know. But then why does a Zelda save take 1 block and yet a C64 title (saving what exactly, the high score!?) takes 3?

Can we please not hassle nintendo about Majora's or DK64 or the Mario Party Trilogy or any other game affiliated with Rare?

Nintendo is a multibillion dollar transnational corporation. We are its customers. We can and should hassle Nintendo about this kind of thing. It's a better alternative than illegally pirating their products, for example.

True that! If enough people start to voice their opinions on matters such as this, we're bound to see some sort of change.

No, like decent PAL conversions for a start. Although, yes I would prefer Beetle Adventure Racing over MM given that the latter is easily obtainable for the Wii already via ebay.

Small theory, we havent seen any N64 Sequels to previous N64 games that are on the VC already (Well, Japan got Custom Robo V2, but they never saw the first one on VC). Makes me wonder if that's a factor...

Well Nintendo didn't make many sequels to games on the N64 for the N64, the only exceptions I can think of are Zelda and Pokemon Stadium.

Mario Party, but maybe you excluded because Hudson made them.
