View Full Version : List of NES Games Unreleased on VC

Angelic Lapras King
29th July 2007, 03:54 PM
Just a little something I made to keep track on VC releases. Its a list of games that have not been released on the VC yet. I used Wikipedia to find the list of games on the NES, took out the ones already released and catagorised them with developers that have signed up to the VC.

Bear in mind, theres a good chance some of it is a little untidy, incorrect and maybe a few missing games. If you spot anything incorrect or missing, let me know and I change it. Also bare in mind, I ve based this on the European VC, but I ll hopefully update it to include games released in America and Japan at some point. If this topic proves sucessful, I ll post
my SNES, N64 and MD lists I made.

Right here we go.

First, it would be alot easier to help if this was A to Z.

Second, there are many games, that are already announced (would help to color this).

Third, some of the japanese games are already released on the JP VC. Won't you take them out or give them a different color?

I'd help if you clean this a up a bit.

Thanks for the advise. I ve put the Nintendo, Atlus, Capcom, Chunsoft and Irem lists in Alphabetical order (Tell a lie, some of those were already alphbetical. lol.). I ll do like wise the rest a bit later.

I ll also add a list of games already on the America, Europe and/or Japanese VCs as well. ;)

These games are already announced:

Antarctic Adventure
Dr. Mario
Duck Hunt
Hogan's Alley
Pro Wrestling
Super Mario Bros. 3
Volleyball
Wild Gunman
Wrecking Crew
Yoshi's Cookie

These games are very likely to come:

10-Yard Fight
Adventure Island (series)
Bionic Commando
Bomberman (series)
Castlevania II (series)
Clu Clu Land
Contra (series)
Dig Dug
Donkey Kong 3
Faxanadu
Ghosts'n Goblins
Golf
Kung Fu
Little Nemo
Mega Man 2 (series)
Nintendo World Cup
Salamander
Slalom
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II

These games are already available in Japan:

Challenger
Gomoku Narabe
Shin Onigashima

These games are already available in USA:

Lode Runner
Milon's Secret Castle
Star Soldier
Super Mario Bros. 2 (EU too)

I would drop Japan Only games, as they might never see the day of light outside Japan. And I'll cover them in the Japanese VC thread anyway.

Higemaru Makaijima - Nanatsu no Shima Daibouken
Believe it or not, this game actually has a very small chance of being released outside of Japan as Makai Island, since the game had been officially translated before being canned (just like NES Earthbound).

first of all, change Hunson to Hudson

and second if you really want to keep japanese nes games, take a look on my thread about the japanese VC games and copy them to your "Games Out In Japan...". hope this will help you.

Didn't see Elite or Ultima III or IV in your list, although they're very unlikely to appear on VC.

There. Updated the Japan only section. Hopefully thats finished, but as ever, warn me if I missed something/did something wrong. ;)

As for Elite, Ultima III and IV, I m not sure the developers/publishers of those games have signed up to the VC. o.o

1. CHANGE Hunson to HUDSON already!!!! :D

2. Cut Volleyball from your list and put it into EU-only, it's released.

3. Cut Adventures of Lolo from the EU/AU-only list. It's released in the US as well.

4. a) 4nin Uchi Mahjong - isnt that Japan Only? Research.
b) Tetris games are licensed titles.
c) Barker Bill / Bill Elliot / Jack Nicklaus / Mickey Mouse - all licensed titles.
d) Antarctic Adventure (Konami) - has been released on the JP VC recently.

You list Jajamaru Kun as "Games Out In Japan Only", and some games like "Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun", "Esper Dream" or "Yume Penguin Monogatari", among others, should be in "Games That Were Not Released Outside of Japan Originally".

EDIT: Also, isn't "VS. Excitebike" arcade-only?

The list needs serious revisions, it's a bit of a mess as it stands now...

I came across this by chance and thought I would share it with you guys. You may or may not find it useful with all the extensive work Angelic Lapras King has done compiling his list.

It seems though Nintendo has their own list of every game ever released for the NES (excluding Japan) with the licensee and original release date listed for each game.

Click to download Nintendo's NES list
www.nintendo.com/doc/nes_games.pdf (http://www.nintendo.com/doc/nes_games.pdf)

Likewise they also have an SNES & N64 list

I'd be surprised if any company didn't have a list of their releases... good thing they made it public, though.

really hoping for faxanadu, guardian legend and 8 eyes...

both are possible (ubisoft owns the rights to broderbund's stuff and square-enix owns the rights to 8 eyes now...)

faxanadu has to be in the pipeline at some point

Ok. Mr. Gimmick would be really nice to play again but if you look at it like this: What happens with the rarity of the game if everyone can download it on VC?

Ok. Mr. Gimmick would be really nice to play again but if you look at it like this: What happens with the rarity of the game if everyone can download it on VC?

Obviously the game is not as rare to play anymore. But the game is just as rare to buy/find as a cart / physical copy. How this affects the market depends on the gamer. It's going to decrease demand a little bit, because a portion of the people looking for the game on eBay or something like that are going to be happy playing it on the VC. But a great deal of retro gamers and collectors want the original hard copy regardless of the VC.

I am shocked they have yet to release Kung Fu. I thought it would of been released when the Wii was launched or at least by now. Other games I'm looking forward to being released are Maniac Mansion (my personal fav nes game), little nemo and shadowgate to name a few. Oh, and Crystalis. Can't forget that great game.
