Is it possible that we can see KI in VC? Or does it again have some problems with rare? I'm dying to know..
..cos its pure awesomeness.

Or else I "have" to just play SM64, :splatterhouse:, SFII: turbo and :samus-run:.

It makes me  when stupid people use :):):) to say words. It is a possibility that we may see these games in the far future. Expect it on Xbox Live Arcade first.

Some rules for Spore. ;)

First. It's all clear what Mip's emoticons mean.
Second. I whack you if this disturbs you.
Third. You use them in the same way too, so have a whack.
Fourth. You don't know what you're talking about, so have another whack.
Fifth. Killer Instinct will never be released in it's original form on Xbox360.
Sixth. Killer Instinct will be released in it's original form on Wii VC.
Seventh. Do you live in the far future or how can you know?
Eight. You're saying "Stupid people". Stupid people are those who are upset because of irrelevant things.

Wasn't its original form an arcade machine?

Doesn't matter. It's a copyright question, and originally Nintendo has All rights reserved to the whole Killer Instinct franchise.
That includes
Killer Instinct (Arcade),
Killer Instinct (SNES),
Killer Instinct (Super Game Boy),
Killer Instinct 2 (Arcade)
and Killer Instinct Gold (N64).

Just didn't like his unnecessary ranting in combination with wrong facts.

Let me get this straight with the whole rare thing. I was under the impression that Microsoft, at the time they bought Rare, also bought the rights to all of Rare's franchises (except for Donkey Kong), and possibly the rights to the games themselves. Doesn't this prevent any Rare game that isn't Donkey Kong from appearing on VC, or am I wrong?

Talk about rude, no need to call him stupid.

But even considering that, isn't it still likely that if we do see a KI release on the VC it won't be its "original form" but rather the SNES port? Or possibly the N64 version of KI Gold? Thus far all VC releases have been emulated console games; there's no precedent for arcade emulation on the VC.

...will release the "true" arcade original...
if Nintendo chooses to emulate its arcade machines to Wii of course.

I'm afraid, at this point it's more likely to see the SNES and N64 version of KI appear on VC.

For Xbox users that want KI:
Rare/M$ has to make a Killer Instinct remake or Killer Instinct 3. You won't see the Nintendo products on Xbox Live. The program data and everything is Nintendo's and believe me, they wouldn't share a bit of it with M$. The characters belong to Rare, so it's their decision what to do with the franchise.

Didn't Rare release a press release a few months ago that basically stated that it's up to Nintendo which games they want to release? I could swear I remember Matt C. from IGN gushing in his blog or in an article about how Banjo-Kazzoie and the like were indeed possible for VC releases.

Yeah, Nintendo chooses. But Microsoft owns rights on half of Rare's library now, so I'm sure they play a part.

Man we still haven't gotten the titles that've been displayed as 'maybes', like Earthbound, SMRPG, etc. yet. I'm keeping my hope levels for Rare games like Killer Instinct and Banjo Kazooie at an inkling until there's a solid reason to hope for said games.

Does this logic apply to Banjo-Kazooie as well, which is now allegedly coming to Xbox Live Arcade?

I believe that they are using a loop hole and saying that it is a remake because it has HD grafics, achievments, Stop n Swap, ect.

Yet allegedly it still includes Nintendo logos in the intro, and presumably the half dozen or so other Nintendo references (such as Kazooie mentioning Mario at one point)?

Well even in the new Banjo on the 360 they have a N64 wrapped up and in the first trailer they blew up Mario.

True. Given that the game is largely about building vehicles and items from various bits and bobs, I had assumed those trailers were people playing about "building Mario" and then blowing up.

I doubt Nintendo would let them release a game where destroying their corporate mascot is an objective, but then maybe they've got no say over the content of someone else's machine? Or maybe they actually see it as free advertising?

I just picked up the SNES cart for Killer Instinct for $5 from a dude.

Killer instinct is a classic game, it is even better than Mortal Kombat (IMO).

Should have no problem being released as Midway co-owned the rights to the game as well as Rare and of course Nintendo

First up, I had no idea Midway were involved.

Secondly, that just makes it even less likely to appear, as there are more companies involved who'd have to agree to it. And I'm not 100% sure but I can't think of any other Midway titles on the VC right now.

Yeah, not just that but the more hands in the pot, the less likely the venture will be profitable to all interests.
