View Full Version : The IQUE Theory

I ve mentioned this a few times, but I think it now deserves a thread.
Basiclly, if you notice, all the N64 games available are games that were available on the IQue Player, which more info can be found here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQue_Player
So now, one has to wonder if this will continue. If it does, we re looking at:
Excitebike 64
Super Smash Bros
Animal Forest
Dr Mario 64
Custom Robo
I know what you re thinking, Animal Forest and Custom Robo were only ever released in Japan. However, as Sin and Punishment has proven, import titles are possible., although if they were to be released outside of Japan, they would require a translation since they re quite text heavy. Also, it could help a series like Custom Robo to become more well known (Europe hasnt had many of the games over here). As for Animal Forest, it could bridge a small gap between its release and the Wii AC.
So, what do you think? Agree or disagree with the theory? Why might Ninty be doing this? Do you think we ll see the import only titles?
Discuss.

Do you think we ll see the import only titles?
No. Too much text for them to translate, remember they got tired before doing the in-game subtitles of S&P.

sorry, this me again.
i love your theory and would download the N64 versions of Dr. Mario, Animal Crossing and Custom Robo in a minute.
I would download the other games too, Excite Bike 64 and Smash Bros but have them already.
With Sin&Punishment released now there's some food for your theory,
but I wouldn't bet a penny on a translated Animal Crossing.
Maybe JP ONLY, yes, but not in the west.
It doesn't make sense, we have (two) Animal Crossing games for Gamecube and DS and there's really no need.
What's up with Dr. Mario 64?
Some people say it's just part of the Japanese "Nintendo Puzzle Collection" N64 game. So why is a US ONLY game on the JP IQue?
I say, just wait and see.

I find your theory amazingly... believable.
As for my remaining points, 3300, I'd buy the following games:
Animal Forest (Likely 1200)
Dr. Mario 64
Super Smash Bros. (Had it before, then it went boom)

Oh yeah, another think to consider. Animal Forest saved data via the Controller Pak, so one would have to wonder if Ninty could get over the Controller Pak issue after the screw up that was saving ghosts in MK64...

Probably won't see Animal Forest anytime soon then. In which case, A REVISED LIST!
Dr. Mario 64
Super Smash Bros.
Excite Bike 64
Boo!

I'm supporting this theory, because its easier for Nintendo to put up these games as it seems that the iQue system is similar to an emulator in itself, so thefore much easier to emulate straight up.
I would probably expect Dr. Mario 64 next, to fill a Oct/November gap, then Smash Brothers just before Brawl hits the States, with Excite Bike 64 heralding the coming of Nitro Bike for the Wii. I'm not excpecting Animal Forest, as Nintendo is too lazy, and I don't know anything about Custom Robo.

I'm pretty sure we'll see all of those games eventually so I'm supporting this theory, maybe Animal Forest will be released during some week to do with environmental issues

I've also had this theory for some months now, so as you can guess, I also think it's highly possible.
And I also think we might be getting Animal Forest and Custom Robo. For Animal Forest they could just use lots of text from the western releases of Animal Crossing on the Cube and..well Custom Robo...ok, the dialogues would mean quite some work, but at least the parts, robots, characters and such could be taken from the Cube sequel.
But we'll probably first get all those other IQue games, especially Smash Bros once SSBB gets released.

I think it's just a coincidense...

As do I, but a nice theory nonetheless:)

It would make no sense for them to waste their time localizing the N64 version when they're probably already working on one or perhaps two more titles in the series.
I mean it.
