Looks pretty sweet. Does it just plug into the Wii remote?

I would imagine it must have to do else you'd be playing it with the gamecube ports or worse still the USB ports at the back. I can't see them making that mistake!

Buddy, I was all over it this morning. Wii Fanboy made a big deal out of it, and with the confirmed release of Guilty Gear XX and already having Metal Slug, I'm whipping out the credit card as we speak. I hope it emulates the GC controller as well, though, since that would mean stuff like Alien Hominid, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Ikaruga and a whole bunch of others would get lots of love as well (hell, even Metal Slug doesn't support the Classic controller, so mapping buttons to the Figthing Stick might be a chore). If it doesn't I might get one of these (http://x-arcade.com/solo.shtml) from eBay, with a modified Sanwa ball-top (I did, after all, grow up on Sega Arcade Sticks).
Weird, ebay.co.uk is down, but the seller is called gremlinsolutions. Have a look, it's a work of art.
Ultimate dream would be for ASCII to release a Type FT pad for the Wii seeing how both the PS2 and XBox got one. I have one for the DC, and it's just the best.

Gaaaah, expensive shipping costs for the lose :(
That looks great otherwise. Would be great for Street Fighter II Turbo :)

I've always been a gamepad over arcadestick guy, Saturn/Dreamcast pads are perfect for fighting to me.
But that looks pretty sexy.

It occurs to me that a lot of the current generation may never have seen a gaming joystick!
A fighting stick is a kind of joystick with a short, precise stick, and a large base with around six large buttons on it. It's more properly an arcade stick, as it mimics the layout of an old-style arcade cabinet's controls, but they became very popular during the Streetfighter II craze, when serious players demanded a more arcade-style control system than a game pad could provide. Hence "fighting" stick.

Before I'd come to know what this thing is:
http://www.retrogames.co.uk/stock/assets/images/Mach_-_Nes_Controller.jpg
(a "Controller", known as "Pad" back then)
I played games (10 years long) only with this:

A Joystick.

This could easily devolve into a Favourite Joysticks thread...
Mine would be the Cheetah Bug, by the by. ;)
Yeah, an arcade/fighting stick would be like SKTTR's second pic there, only with a larger base and a few more buttons.

Would it be compatible with a PAL Wii?

Does it work with UK Wiis, And Games that aren't fighting games (ie/SideScrollers, Platformers, etc)?

I can't see why it wouldn't work across regions, and yes, it should work with any game that uses directional control and fire buttons.

I dunno, Maybe region coding might stop it from working? It said that its compatible with Japanese Wii, but not US or UK Wiis. Also, What exactly is it supposed to 'replace' in games as the controller - the Wii remote or the Classic Controller? It does look like a pretty cool device though. I would like to get one if I knew the Details about it.

Unless the Japanese Wii has different shaped controller ports, I can't see how this joystick could be region-locked.
I'd guess it replaces the Classic Controller and/or Gamecube pads.

It doesnt, my Nunchuk accessory i bought in a shop was imported as it the entire packaging is covered in Japanese writing, plus it says on it for sale in Japan only. It works fine with my PAL Wii tho ^^

Getting me one of these for Christmas :D Only two months and 25 days to go! *Starts counting*
Or maybe I'll just get it on its UK release, hmm... Either way, I could see it being a treat with a fair few VC games. Plus I think it could be used as a PC controller via a bluetooth receiver.
