Has anyone heard if this great game will ever be added to the Virtual Console? For those who missed out, Herzog Zwei was one of the first, if not the first real-time strategy game.

You mean, It predates all those that were on computers aswell? It must be pretty old.

It is credited as being either the first or one of the first console real-time strategy games. I don't know about desktop games.

'Ancient Art of War' for the old 84 macs is seen as being the first true rts, but I'd have to say that the first one is 'Herzog' due to actually seeing what you are doing. Herzog is german for a Duke and Herzog zwei is 'Duke 2' so the incredible sega game was a direct sequel to the first rts. I have fond memories of this game blowing my fragile child mind when i first played it :) ahhhh...wow just a thought, screw CnC 3 bring on Herzog 3!!!
