Put this in the normal Current Gen forum since it's being released on both PS3 and 360 :)
Less than 6 days now, I'm getting really excited for this (even though people keep saying it's another GTA game and that it'll be more of the same...). Reviews so far have been excellent though.
Anyone else here getting it next week?

I don't have a PS3 or 360, and this game isn't enough to make me get one. GTA games are really fun for a few hours, but then I tend to get bored of them.

I do love the level of detail they put into this game. Really quite convincing. It also uses Euphoria which will probably be fun to play with.

Can't wait...
I've had the SE for the 360 on pre order for months at Amazon, they come with a free license plate there.
Was having such trouble deciding to get it for the PS3 or 360 but all things considered, subjectively and objectively, the 360 easily wins out before the crack of dawn.

That is the first all around 10 they've ever given.

Rockstar must really be pushing this one as hard as they're pushing money into IGN's pockets.
I'm surprised IGN didn't give Okami a 10/10. ;)

Have you read the full review and watched the video review? It looks amazing, and the other reviews have been nearly all been 10/10.

I didn't say it doesn't look like a good game.

So far the game has only gotten 10's. Ya think it will overtake Ocarina of Time?

I'll be more interested in seeing what the mass audience has to say about it 8 months from now.

Well the mass audience still talks about how great and revolutionary Grand Theft Auto 3 was, so I don't think this will be any different.

Yes im getting it, something tells me this is going to be different to all the other GTA games.

A huge number of reviews surfaced at 5pm GMT today because of an embargo by Rockstar and Take-Two, and the PS3 and 360 currently at 100 on Metacritic, based on 10 and 12 reviews, respectively.
So, it's set to be the highest rated game of all time :)
Tuesday can't come soon enough.

I'm one of them—I still think GTA3 is the best game in the series so far. All I mean is that, 8 months from now, I doubt the mass audience will give this game a unanimous 100%. I want to know what the game's weaknesses are before I consider buying it (especially since I'll need a new system for it).

From what I've read from reviews (and I've read a lot of them) flaws in GTA IV are few and far between, but I've heard that there are some minor frame rate issues with the 360 version. That's pretty much all I've read that's been negative about it.
Oh and btw Jogurt, what game/s would be enough for you to get a 360 or PS3? ;) Are there no others that interest you on those platforms?

So far, the only non-Wii exclusives that have interested me are Dynasty Warriors 6, GTA4, and Final Fantasy XIII. If I think hard, I might be able to come up with another one or two... Blu-ray is also a point of interest.

No more? Not interested in Oblivion, Call of Duty 4, Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Socom Confrontation and loads more that are on the 360 instead?

The only one on that list that even piques my interest is Little Big Planet, and it's certainly not enough to make up 25% of a new $500 system's library for me. :)

I don't begrudge anyone their console choices. I've said it a million times—it all depends on what kind of gamer you are / gaming experience you're after. :)

Let's not get out of hand! :) I loved the original GTA. It sure is hard to play nowadays, though, especially after getting used to the other games in the series.

Been playing this for a good while now, and it's one of the best games I've played in a long time :)
The newest Liberty City is huge, but the detail is what really impresses. And for such a huge map the graphics are quite brilliant.
Played a few missions so far, and I've noticed that most cars are considerably more difficult to handle than in previous GTA's, which adds to the technique of chases.
Haven't tried the multiplayer yet, but I'm about to now :p

Everyone talks about this absurd level of detail in the city. Examples?
Joxe

Well, it's not Gears of War or Crysis graphics but in the upper class of the 360/PS3 class. There are some low-textured models though because of the mere size of the town, which has no loading times at all.
The overall game is great, tried it today at a friend's house. And as I write my pals are playing it online and talking on skype, it's funny to just listen what they say :)

Let me see...
1. People walk around sipping coffee or eating hot-dogs.
2. When the rain starts people hide under newspapers and run for shelter or bring out umbrellas.
3. You can use a full fictional internet in cafés to set up dates online, check email, buy ringtones to download to your in-game phone, order new cars etc.
4. When you crash at a high speed you fly out the front windscreen.
5. When you steal a car from someone who doesn't run away screaming, they occasionally hang on to the side/bumper until you swing them off.
6. The way Niko leans uses his elbow to break the windows on locked car doors and leans down to hot-wire it.
I can't think of any more right now, but it's easy to see when you play it the level of work that Rockstar put into the game.

Is there a button to press so you can put your seatbelt on? Because that would be attention to detail. ;)

Unfortunately no, I don't think Niko cares too much for safety :)

does the game go darker at night therefore requiring the cars to use headlights, and then been able to switch the lights off? i remember a racing game on the snes which you could do that, was fun but hard.

I refuse to buy the censored Australian version that was passed onto NZ, even though we dont have a
rubbish rating system thats stops at 15. Imported english copy, or not at all, I'm afraid.

Some areas of Liberty City is so dark that enabling the light will make the visibility considerably better. It's a neat feature indeed.

Looking forward to this :D Ive ordered it for my dad for his birthday since he likes GTA too and kept hinting towards this for his birthday. Unfortunatly its out of stock on amazon, play and at our local gamestore. I orderd from amazon anyway and have to wait for around the 16th of may before its dispatched.
Im looking forward to playing it since all reviews have been positive and the game just looks amazing from all the videos ive seen. Ive been playing the previous GTA's recently too in anticipation for this one.
