Well since the release of Halo 3 is next month and GTA IV is coming out sometime next year, I decided to do a thread on which of these two titles will be more popular.
So, which will you be getting?
Grand Theft Auto 4 or Halo 3?

How about a Neither option? I enjoyed Vice City a lot, but the rest haven't done much for me, and I really don't understand the fuss over the mediocre Halo series.

Neither. GTA just gets boring after a while. Halo is nothing more than hype. I've played much better shooters than it. Too many console gamers seem to get excited by mediocrity.

Neither as well. GTA series has run stale and updated graphics will never save it. I won't even begin to discuss my disgust for halo. I'll say it before and I'll say it again Fps belongs to the mighty mouse and keyboard (and maybe wiimote if we ever see a decent one made, heres lookin at you Metroid!).

I wouldn't go that far. Goldeneye is superb, as are the Timesplitters games, and part of the reason is the slick controls, even using a console gamepad. Halo's main problem is, as Pegasus says, that it's just mediocre, not because it's on a console. The PC and Mac versions are mediocre too. ;)
Wiimote/Nunchuck should, in theory, be a good fps control scheme, but we need to see it proved in a game. As you say, Metroid may be the test.

Very true, there are definitely exceptions to the rule as I am definitely a fan of Goldeneye. A console fps has to be pretty exceptional in the other required areas of presentation to distract me from the fact that I have to deal with aiming with my thumb and Halo just doesn't cut (not by a long shot). However, mouse and keyboard will always be the preferable method for the fps, to me at least. Yea I don't just hate Halo because it is on a console it is just so sub par next to so many other great games in the genre. And as more and more great fps get realeased on the PC its hard to go back to the other control schemes on the consoles. I'll even go as far as to give Halo credit for working on the console because it definitely works. Aside from being boring the controls do work great for a console game. But thats just it, it works great for a console fps. That's like saying you're the skinniest kid at fat camp. I guess I'm just an Unreal Tournament Fanboy.

Well shut me up then with that pol :p I suppose I should have added a "Neither game, cus they both suck" option...

I wouldn't exactly say they suck, but I very much doubt either one will be a must-have title, unless one is a rabid fanboy of the franchises.

I'll be getting both. I can't believe some people think GTA is getting "stale". San Andreas was the best installment yet IMO (you can't count LCS or VCS). Halo may not be the greatest FPS of all time, but you're missing one thing, the main thing, the fun factor. Theres few games that are as much fun as playing Halo online.

Well fun is one thing, but does it justify the pile of 10/10, 5/5 and 100% scores Halo gets? Nope. Horribly overrated. I've had more fun playing Quake, even Doom online than I have with Halo. I just don't understand the hype.
