I'm about to get a ds and was wondering what the best games are to get.
Heres are a couple i think are good:
Kirby Canvas Curves
Animal Crossing
Brain Age 2
Mario&Luigi
New Super Mario Bros.
Final Fantasy III
Yoshi's Island
Zelda - Phantom Hourglass
Can you reccomend some other ones?

Animal Crossing: Wild World
Picross DS
Elite Beat Agents
Kirby Squeak Squad
Kirby Canva's Curse
Mario&Luigi
Mario Kart DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
Pokémon Diamond/ Pearl
Super Mario 64 DS
I haven't got the time to go into them in detail, but these are excellent games. Obviously I don't have a clue about your gaming tastes, but these are definitely worth looking in to.

To add to the current lists:
Ouendan 1/2 - The best rhythm games you'll ever play. Inventive, wacky, funny, addictive, just rather good all round!
Sonic Rush/Sonic Rush Adventure - 2D Sonic fun. Not him at his best, but still very good.
Puzzle League DS - The ultimate competitive puzzler along with Puzzle Fighter. Only if you're a puzzler nut mind, but you'll love it if you are!
More Brain Training - Don't let this be your only game, but surprisingly fun, especially if you get other people with a profile on the game, makes things competitive!
Final Fantasy III - Very hardcore, difficult and retro RPG. Worth it if you stick with it though!

I added them all to the list. I'll obiviouly need to narrow it down a bit, but I'm still open for suggestions. I like platformers, action/ adv, RPG, and some driving games.

Puzzle Quest
Tetris
Zelda - Phantom Hourglass
I still can't understand how anyone can actually recommend Super Mario 64 DS. No matter what control scheme one chooses, they're all terrible. Just stick to the original available on the VC.

Sonic Rush Adventure is my favorite 2D Sonic game, however, I did finish it overnight:D

The best ones seem to be listed already... Yoshi's Island DS is a good enough platformer

You cut Animal Crossing?! It's one of the best games on the DS, regardless of looks...

I'm surprised no one mentioned Metroid Prime Hunters.
It's the less metroid-feel title of the series, but it is the only true FPS that ever made sense on any console.

I cant buy all of these so what are the top three? So far I think:
Kirby's Canvas Curse
Final Fantasy III
New Super Mario Bros.

Choosing some games for the DS is indeed difficult!
Wouldn't it be better for you to seek out games at least of some genres you like?
Anyway about the titles you are focusing:
Kirby - as far as I know Canvas Curse is a game that uses the stylus in a perfect way. Fans of Kirby games are enthusiasts of how the game came out to be.
Mario & Luigi - Fun, fun and fun. If you want some real good laughs, this is the game.

I'm surprised no-one (or not many people) has mentioned Phoenix Wright 1 and 2!
I suggest to get Phoenix Wright, Ouendan and Sonic Rush (not played Sonic Rush Adventure).

Blimey, how could I forget Phoenix! =O
Yes, get Phoenix Wright 1, play through and then get PW 2. I can't recommend those games enough :D

I liked the first Phoenix Wright, but I'll be skipping 2&3 and going straight to the fourth Ace Attorney title, whenever that'll be released in the West. Reason? The bonus DS case was way better than the previous cases. Yes, I want a title that has been completely programmed for the DS and isn't a mere re-hash of GBA titles that are released backwards, more or less.

More or less? What do you mean?
I have
Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney (Part 1)
Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney: Justice For All (Part 2)
and there is
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials And Tribulations (Part 3).
And there are in the right chronological order as I can see!?!
Yes, they are (enhanced) ports from the GBA version but who cares, as they were never released outside of Japan anyway.
and there's Apollo Justice - Ace Attorney on it's way.
Yes, it's not a GBA port. And it's the beginning of a new story. (The Phoenix Wright Trilogy is connected to each other chronologically) but in Apollo Justice you'll be introduced to all new characters. And it's 3D, I believe.

Exactly, they're such great games it really doesn't matter, if they were out on GBA they'd still be worth buying.

Hope you meant
"it really doesn't matter, if they were out already on GBA they'd still be worth buying."
The GBA, in his AGS-101 incarnation is my favourite ever:
1) piece of electronics
2) cool design object
3) videogame console
4) pillow
5) pshychiatrist
6) meal
7) ultimate religion
Do not ever insult the GBA.
