It is my first post, so what better way to start it off than talking about one of the greatest games ever? 5 years ago I played this on my uncle's N64. He's sold it now, so I haven't had a go on it in AGES. But just think... the multiplayer! Please, ninty, DO ITTTTT!

It'd be a really nice bit of goodwill from Microsoft* to allow Goldeneye to appear (especially as they make a statement every week saying that the Wii's a failure, so what harm would it do to 360 business?), but "goodwill" and "Microsoft" don't tend to go together.
*Obviously, it's not just MS who stand in the way. EA own the Bond licence right now, but even if all the Bond references were stripped out, it's still a Rare/MS game.

No Activision hold the james bond licence now EA canceled there agrement with MGM since they could not get a bond game out in time for Casino Royale and GoldenEye Rogue Agent had very poor sales.

I soooooooooo want this game on VC! This one and Perfect Dark :D I really hope there is some way these games will get a VC release. It would be so sad if they didn't. Why did Rare have to go to Microsoft anyway? stupid question: money -___-' I want Rare back with Ninty

The odds of it happening are insanely low, but one of those FPS's and online multiplayer and i would be happy for a while.

Goldeneye is the best FPS of all time. Halo, Half-Life, Perfect Dark would be nothing if it wasn't for Goldeneye. Here's hoping Microsoft does something nice for the right reasons just this once.

If they did add it to VC, it would probably cost extra. You know, they'd have to give Microsoft and Rare a cut, just like TMNT on the NES VC.
I own the original cart anyway, bought it for pennies down at my Gamestop. :P

TMNT's 500 points in Europe. Har har.
I really don't think Goldeneye's gonna happen. You won't be seeing Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie for the same reasons. No Diddy Kong Racing either (Since that was just released for DS, plus it's got Conker and Banjo).

Then why did we see Donkey Kong Country isn't that Rare.

Yeah, but since the DK license is owned by Nintendo there were no issues. Apparently characters like Diddy and Trixie Kong are not so clear-cut because they were created by Rare for the later games, albeit within the DK universe. These issues will certainly be clarified fairly soon as Nintendo seeks to release more games on the VC.
Incidentally, this is the same reason we'll never see Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie on the VC, imho an even bigger travesty. As great as Goldeneye was for its time (and it was) it is probably one of the N64 games that's aged least gracefully over the years. Fired mine up again the other day, and came to the conclusion that not many people are likely to have a revelation like they did with Star Fox 64.

Personally I can't stand this game., It's good the first time you played it, but for me, it had no replayabillity.
I prefer Perfect Dark. It was a much better game all around with better pysics and the multiplayer was phenominal.
Me and my buds played that game for 8 hours every day (holidays) until we broke the cart with overuse!

I never got into that game so if it were to be released on the VC, I'd just pass on it.

I think you are all forgetting an important element that makes goldeneye different from banjo, conker, and perfect dark... it is that goldeneye isnt an original IP created by rare, and as far as i know the only thing thats in the game that rare owns is the code, much like the donkey kong country series, sure rare made it, but because they dont own any property within the game itself, its up to the publisher to do what they see fit.
now im no law major but that seems to make sense to me. the fact is i believe this title has more to do with activision and the current movie studio holder (Metro Goldwyn Mayer?) in which case i dont think Microsoft/Rare has much of a say in this matter.
In addition to all of that, some of you may have remembered this January 11, 2006 IGN article: http://wii.ign.com/articles/680/680846p1.html
where nintendo first revealed some in depth info regarding the VC service, anyway as you can see at the bottom that goldeneye is on the list of titles that are likely to be released.."early on". the fact that its on the list in the first place tells me that Nintendo knows goldeneye is very possible. and on top of that rare/microsoft hasnt said it wouldnt show up on VC and rare again did say some of those titles are possible.
so with all that evidence and what not i do believe there is a very good chance it will show up, though it may cost a bit more.

BUMPITY BUMP
Don't mean to necro, but I was wondering if there were any updates on the Goldeneye release.
I will pay any price within reason. If they make it online multiplayer, I will pay an exorbitant amount of money for it.
Everyone I know who is a serious gamer and played it considers it one of if not THE best fps of all time. For me, it was the best of any game.
It was extremely popular and would bring in lots of revenue if released on VC. I can't believe they haven't figured out a way to release it with all the money it would bring in...
Someone give me some good news!

You think they'd put online multiplayer in it? I really doubt it, even if it was released.
