Here are a few pictures of some of my game consoles, perhaps you notice a running theme? I will add more pictures when I have time, but this is a nice cross section of my collection. Comments are welcome. I also have a Samsung LCD that is a matching color to all of these. It looks pretty cool actually, all set up.

The running theme is that they are all game consoles, thats just obvious =p

Well, the theme I was talking about was that they are all white. I think it looks pretty cool all set up together with an LCD TV that is white also. Just a rather unique display.

My NES (Model 1), SNES (Model 1), and Playstation (Model 1) are all gray, and my Playstation 2 (Model 1 with HDD), Playstation 3 (60gb), Gamecube, Nintendo 64, Saturn, and Genesis (Model 2) are all black. I am not much for the Purple Nintendo consoles ("Atomic Purple N64", "Indigo GCN" anyone?) or any other number of limited edition color variants. White, Black, or Gray, those are the colors I grab when I pick up a new system. Not even really big on the Silver Consoles either, although my Gameboy Pocket and NDS are both Silver. I do admit, if someone had matching Platinum set of Gamecube and PS2 Slim, that would look pretty awesome. Show some pictures, what color versions are your consoles?

Seriously, I used to have a NES, SMS, Genesis, SNES, TG16, PSX, 3DO, PS2, GCN, and Wii. Plus portables. But most of those are gone, and I am left with NES, SNES, PSX, GCN, PS2, and Wii.

Actually, I'm wondering whether there's even any point in keeping the GCN nowadays... It's cute, but I could put the money towards another game. :) Anyone in support of keeping the GCN, or should I continue my "theme" of selling my consoles? ;)

Game Boy Player and better Freeloader compatibility for GC games are the practical reasons for keeping it. That's why mine is still set up and occasionally used. It also depends if you want to be a collector or not.

I keep my GC so my mini bros can borrow it.
To counter all the PS2 they are experiencing :P

Well, I don't have a GB/GBA or GB player, nor do I care about Freeloader. I am a collector, but the GCN's collectibility is pretty much shot. (At least, it seems that way—they're everywhere right now, selling for pennies.) This is the same reason I have my PS1s packed in boxes in the closet—backwards compatibility makes them completely obsolete.

That's cool. I'm modding my GC and 64 controllers to be red on top, and black on bottom, to match my DS. I don't wanna play with the actual 64 console, though.

I keep my orange japan import gamecube, a) for the game boy player and b) to play all import cube games wich do not run on my Wii, but natively on my cube (Region Switch Mod, no console of mine has a modchip installed).

My SNES just got itself a 50/60Hz switch, sadly its of a newer make and I can't disable the lockoutchip, so I have to mod my copy of Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius.

Except for the Virtual Boy, which I do not have, I also own a PSP Slim & Lite and a XBox 360 Helo Edition, a Dreamcast, Mega Drive and a Master System 2.

On of my NESes is at my workplace in the break-room, hooked up and ready for 4 player action.

Which consoles do you keep setup and connected in your entertainment setup? I recently re-did my whole setup, and re-wired everything. Took me three evenings to finish, working a little bit each night. Things like backwards compatability and compilation discs render some consoles obsolete and unecessary, yet there are instances for some people where a certain console still remains a viable option under certain circumstances. Here's what I have hooked up now with the two setups in my room:

Setup 1 (Main):
-Samsung 26 inch (LCD 720p)
-Toshiba HD-DVD player (Although HD-DVDs are defunct, that thing upscales regular DVDs better than any other device I've seen. Hooked up with HDMI cable)
-Playstation 3 (60GB, HDMI)
-Playstation 2 (Model 1, Component, for HDD games & faster load times)
-Xbox 360 (Pro Model, VGA cable)
-Nintendo Wii (Component)
-Nintendo Gamecube (Component, Gameboy Player & 80+ GBA carts FTW)
-Super Nintendo (Model 1, S-Video)

Setup 2 (Secondary):
-Samsung 19 inch (LCD 720p)
-Sega Dreamcast (VGA Cable)
-Playstation 2 (Slim Model, Component, modified for playing imports)

Not hooked up/Obsolete now:
-Sega Genesis (Genesis Collection (PS2), and Sonic Mega/Gems Collections (GCN) make this unecessary now)
-Nintendo 64 (Zelda Collector's disc (GCN) and Wii VC render this unecessary)
-Playstation 1 (PS2s and PS3 make this unneeded)
-DVD Player & VCR (HD-DVD player, PS2s, PS3 and Xbox 360 mostly make these unneeded)
-Magnavox 15 inch SD TV (2 HDTVs make this unneeded)

In Limbo ATM:
-NES (Still a few games only playable on this, but VC could soon render it unneeded. May hook up to Setup 2 once I find my composite cables for it.)

What about you all, how do your setups work currently? Mine covers about all the bases for any game I want to play at any time. Retro or current, I am ready to go.

Setup #1:

Sharp Aquos 32" 1080p
Wii (component)
Sony PS2 (fat, composite, modified to play imports, also acts as my DVD player)
Nintendo GameCube (S-video, waiting to be sold)

In storage:
NES, NES, SNES, SNES

Setup #2:

Nintendo DS

Setup 1:
-A 4:3 CRT TV which is great for retro gaming.
-Mega Drive and Mega CD (original versions)
-Saturn
-Gamecube (composite SCART)
-Dreamcast (RGB SCART)
-N64
-Xbox (composite)
-PS2 Slimline (composite)

Setup 2:
-Samsung LCD (720p, I forget the size, it's not that big)
-Wii (component)
-DVD player with upscaling (HDMI)
-VCR (RGB SCART)

In storage
-Master System
-SNES
-PS1 (original)

I frequently change my setup so the same consoles aren't always in storage.

My setup:

- Wii (bought on launch day...) (RGB-Scart)
- 4:3 CRT Mono TV with messed up scart connection (only one speaker works when it works :D.)
- Old, mostly unused DVD-player (Composite)

Sounds great doesn't it? :D. I also have N64 and GC in storage.

Nintendo DS Waitaminute, why are you selling your Gamecube but keeping a second NES and second SNES? Did I miss something here?

I'm not sure which NES and SNES work. Maybe neither of them. I'll have to give them both a thorough test sometime. If they don't work I can always get working ones later.

But the Wii works for sure, which makes the GCN obsolete. I do have a GBA in storage, but no GCN GBA player (yet). Maybe if the GCN doesn't sell I'll hang onto it and maybe pick up a used GBA player sometime. Still, meh. We'll see.

Hm, well I'll never get rid of my Gamecube because then I wouldn't be able to play any import Gamecube games. My Action Replay/Freeloader doesn't work on the Wii so the Gamecube is needed for that, not to mention the Gameboy Player. (Plus I never sell any of my systems. I still have my Gameboy Color even though I have an Advance, SP and GB Player.)

Well then, mister, you're a better man than I. I don't have any GCN imports. The GB player is tempting, as it would be nice to play Metroid Zero Mission and FFTA on the big screen... If this GCN doesn't sell as easily as I'd like, I'll probably keep it around and hunt down a GB player.

(I had to sell a lot of my old systems and games in order to be able to afford to live. I'm only now in the process of reacquiring everything I've lost. Thanks eBay!)
