Neuzd reminded about this...probably second only to SMW as my favourite game on the SNES. It's rare even today to find a game with the diversity of gameplay this had, a true original in it's day. The stand out bit was the (sounds boring but wasn't) work-related parts and the tv game show you took part in.

Awesome game, hope it comes to the VC eventually.

Yeah, brilliant game, although the Amiga port was the best.

And Another World (or Out of This World) as it was also known. Similar game that predated Flashback. Both great, in my opinion.

Predated?
Another World was the project Delphine released before Flashback. They're dad and son. Flashback isn't a direct sequel to Another World but it is its spiritual successor.

Anyway, Another World exhausted its surprise too soon, I found the first part of the game to be the most interesting.

And about Flashback, I didn't had the opportunity to play it all, that's why I would like to play it again.

mmmh.
It comes to my mind that probably "predated" means pre-dated...

Sorry if my post is pointless...

They were both released by Delphine and used a similar style, but unless I'm mistaken, Eric Chahi had no involvement in Flashback; more of a spiritual sequel than an actual one?

I'll admit that exhausts my knowledge about it, though.

EDIT: I just regurgitated the post I was responding to... Sorry. And yes, I meant pre-dated.

"to predate" means both "existing before something else" and "to prey upon something", so my intuition wasn't that wrong.

Reading your sentence with the other meaning totally reverses the sense!

Ha, I was wondering what you were on about! Predate as in predator; I'd never have thought of that first.

The developer Eric Chahi had nothing to do with flashback what so ever!
he created the game all on his tod without any help...
he then went on to do heart of Darkness..

Another world was the MAN.. it was a shame to see it overshadowed in the end by flashback which was released months after anotherworld.. in my oppinion flashback was a great game...
...But another World offers you an unparalleled and enthralling experience. Dark and surreal in equal measure, the silent movie style of this game was a lot more like a disturbed dream where as flashback was brighter and felt slightly more like an American action movie than an art fuel'd masterpiece..

but hey this thread was all about about flashback soo whoo! go flashback!

What's this game about?

It's an action/adventure in a platform gameplay.

Here's some links:

Gameplay footage from the amiga version:

Cannot add more, as I stated before I just played the first part of the game...one of my disks was corrupted so I never saw past the beginning.
But surely it had great graphics and animations, and rich but simple gameplay.

Great game, way ahead of it's time.

15 years later and a enchanced version has been released:

I saw the Youtube movie that was linked earlier and I must say that it was really impressive. Nicely done sprites and animations and an interesting gameplay that looked like a mix of Prince of Persia (the old one) and maybe Tomb Raider, not to much action but a lot of problemsolving.

I hope that this is released in the future since I would defenitly download it.

Yeah, it plays a lot like the old Prince of Persia, only you can do a bit more than just jump and swing your sword. I hope we see it on VC; it came out on SNES and MD, so that doubles the chances.

That's always good. :)
