They only display your lives till 9, so I don't exactly know how many lives I had after finishing.
I think I lost 2 lives through the whole game but "earned" about 7.
This game is ridiculously easy. The only enemies which gave me "problems" were that flying jetman and the guy before the very last boss(who doesn't deserve that name at all). "Andore Junior" from Final Fight, a normal enemy, is 10 times harder than some bosses in SoR2.
Also it doesn't play as fluently...you know...as smoothly as Final Fight 1,2 or 3. When you smack up an opponent in FF it goes like "WOOM WHACK WOOM"...you kinda feel that you beat him up(especialy with Haggar hehe) but in SoR2 it's more a "whim whim whim". It's not that intensive IMO.
Don't get me wrong. SoR2 is a great game...especialy in multiplayer mode but IMO it has no chance against SNES/SFC brawlers like Final Fight 2 and 3, Iron Commando, Undercover Cops or Combatribes.

Final Fight I just find riciculously hard...
I managed to get to the level 4 boss the other day, but I doubt I'll get past it, mainly because you have to restart the levels.
I haven't finished SoR2 yet, but it's no easier than the original I don't think, but I don't mind it being easy because I'll replay it loads lie with SoR1.

I've beaten both SoR 1 & 2 and 2 is easier. The special moves are better in this game, unlike the crappy one in the original. Once you go through it a few times, you'll realize its easier than the original.

I never could get into Final Fight years ago when I first played it.

@Zubiac Have you tried to finish SoR2 on Maniac yet? You get this difficulty setting after finishing Hard mode.

Final Fight on the Snes is just ridiculous. This game was meant to be played by two players and it gets unfair really quick. Besides the missing two player option they forgot to implement one stage completely. Imo the only "beatable" version is the one on the Mega CD.

I've done it on easy, I'll be moving onto the harder difficulties soon.

I beat FF on VC without ever using a continue. Level 4 boss is indeed a *****, I suggest just doing a spinning clothesline whenever he comes towards you and hope for the best. Be sure to have at least a few extra lives (2-3) when doing this as clotheslines drain your health. When he turns red and charges towards you time it right and punch him right before he punches you, then knock him down normally.

Yeah, Maniac mode is pretty sick! There's enemies galore!

You must be really good at it then, I can make it to level 3 without using one, then I probably get through 1 a level...

I thought that the 2 women on streets of rage 1 were very hard, this is definately easier but that's not such a bad thing

What difficulty were you playing? The enemies get better moves, more health and increase in numbers on the higher settings.

FF might be harder, but it lacks the cool atmosphere of the SOR games; the music is kinda blah, levels aren't very interesting, villains look ridiculous and the homoerotic vibe is strong in that series.

I disagree completely. FF is better animated though, but not on the SNES.

OMG! I remember them! Oh, the pain! I remember the first time beating them to get to Mr. X in the final level, what a relief it was! They're one of the toughest streets of rage bosses in the series.

Never had a problem with the 2 ladies...flying kicks seemed to take care of them okay...the Karnov clone was one that troubled me.

I still haven't done the end on 1 player because of them

I've always been able to beat the original with friends of mine too, but one player is just too hard.

I found SoR2 easier than I did on the MD for some reason; only the big wrestler guy and the Blanka rip-off in the lift caused any real problems.

It's still a fantastic purchase though, and well worth the points. I can go back again and again and never get bored of it.

Indeed it is hard to get bored playing this awesome game. NA got ActRaiser two mondays ago and I'm still playing Streets of Rage 2. That's how fun it is. Don't worry ActRaiser fanatics, I will get to playing it!
