What were your favourite board games as a kid?
Apart from the classics (Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit) which I still love today, my vote would have to go to 'Go For Broke'. The idea was that you started with a $1m and had to lose every penny to win. There was a stock market game and a casino and a race track...it was AWESOME. I'd love to find this game again.
Hungry Hippo's would be right up. As would Mouse Trap.

Whoa, I also had "Go For Broke" when I was a kid, and it's probably around somewhere in the apartment. It was on swedish though, but it was really fun :)

go for broke was great. a favorite even though our roulette wheel and stock spinners would not spin.
junior monopoly was great, but unbalanced. some games were over before they had even begun.

Mouse trap would have been great if it wasn't damn near impossible to set up for a 6 year old. I might have been slower than most as a kid but my only memories of that game was struggling with setting the trap up.
One of my personal favorites was The Grape Escape. It was kind of like mouse trap except you used play dough made grapes as your character and you could get smushed by various traps throughout the board. Anyone remember this?

Go Tor Broke, Life, Monopoly, Cluedo, Scrabble etc...
I love many, but no one else I know likes BG's, so I never get to play, shame.

Scrabble, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and the fishing thing. :D
Oh yea the fishing game!!!! Are you talking about the game where there were fish in holes in a plastic pond and it spun around giving you chances to nab one with your magnetic fishing pole? If so thank you for digging that forgotten memory out of from the back of my brain!

I forgot Scrabble and Monopoly. Those are my 2 favourite board games now, but I used to love them when I was young too

Bah. True gamers still play board games, although I play different ones now.
Favorites of the past: The aMAZEing Labyrinth, Take Off, Monopoly (which I find to be an awful bore these days)
Current favorites: The Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, The aMAZEing Labyrinth, Shear Panic, Tigris & Euphrates, Winds of Plunder... etc.

I was a huge fan of a game called Escape From Atlantis or something like that, because it had a really nifty board and gameplay style. It's long out of print now though.
Currently, I'm having great fun with Zombies!

Oh no! Not Zombies! It's a fun game if you combine it with a few beers. Just by itself it can be a bit dull.

It's great fun with friends in the right mood. I find beer is optional. ;)

Sorry! was my fave. Hungry hungry hippos too.
Oooo and Quicksand! The little men who would "sink" but you'd take away the piece of their body? Hahaha.

Mankomania or Go For Broke? or someting like that.
You had to get rid of a million dollars before others could do it.

I used to love Risk but it was hard to find people that were willing to play it since it takes days to finish a game of it. How about Stratego? Any love for that?
