I've had a look and I can't find a thread for this so here's a new one.

For me one of the best things about games are the boss battles. I'm looking for your favourite battles with imaginitative, weird, epic or challenging bosses. Bosses that are massive, or really difficult until you work out their secret, that kind of thing.

In no order

Okami - Orochi
The first time I've played a game where you have to get a boss drunk

Sonic 2 / Sonic & Knuckles - Dr Robotnik
If only for the music!

Breath of Fire IV - Secret Boss
A boss so mean that he kills your team, resurrects them only to kill them again.

Final Fantasy VII - Ruby Weapon
For the initial *ahhhh* moment when you investigate what that weird red thing poking out the sand is.

Final Fantasy XII: Yiazmat — Oh yeah! One sitting!

Secret of Mana: The demon wall thingy — especially fun with multiple players.

Final Fantasy Tactics: Elmdor — gimme that Genji stuff!

Some of my favourite bosses in no particular order.

Banjo-Tooie - Mingy Jongo (http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=sHhmR5YiQgk) (It was so unexpected!)

Banjo-Tooie - Terry (http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=18_jiVMu69U)

Banjo-Tooie - Lord Woo Fak Fak (http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjTwwaEqybw)

Giygas from Earthbound.

Anything specific I could say about him would spoil it and I don't think the battle can have the same impact if you know in advance what's going to happen. But not only is it challenging, it's...frightening. Seriously, Giygas is the only thing in a video game to truly scare me.

Runner-up is Seven Force from Gunstar Heroes. Nothing like a boss with seven different forms.

Hm, hard one...I would say that one of the best ones are the ninth boss in Shadow of the Colossus, you know the giant turtle-like thing. Simply because you always kept moving and fighting a colossus that was about as big as two suburbian apartment-buildings, it really felt like a battle of some kind, hard to explain.

The last boss in Okami was really cool aswell, just like the whole game you felt like a god :)

It's hard to name the best ones, but I generally like those were it's really on the edge if you're going to survive or not. I would say that Shade of Aran from World of Warcraft is also one of my favorites (shame on me ^_^).

One of my favourites has to be The End from Metal Gear Solid 2. There's several ways to kill him (but I won't spoil them) and it's such a unique battle. :)

My favorite boss battles has probably been from Zelda Ocarina of Time.

Also Francis from Super Paper Mario is pretty hilarious, aswell with the first boss in Super Paper Mario, Fracktail.
But i mostly like them cause of the dialogues.

I also like some hectic boss battles in SHUMPS who shoot laser who is nearly impossible to dodge, fun.

I love the classic boss fight where the boss follows a pattern of attacks and movement, who you have to learn to avoid, then figure out a way to beat him.

Last boss in Sonic 2 comes to mind. Took a while to figure out how to attack him and avoid his attacks at the same time.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear yet!
C'mon! As a kid he freaked me out, and way he broke the fourth wall was just classic.

Apart from him I've always dug the Koopa Kids. I really wish nintendo hadn't done away with them in favor of bowser jr.

And pretty much every boss in No More Heroes. Seriously they all rock.
Shinobu and Letz Shake especialy.

Oh and the last boss in Sin and Punishment was pretty epic, what with it being the entire Earth and all.

Thought Psyco Mantis were a pretty normal boss, at least when you read about the controller port #2 trick that everyone knows of today.

Mentioned it in another thread but I've found my favorite boss which is Monster X from Cave Story, one of the hardest bosses I've encountered and I ended up in having about 40 tries on him until I finally beat him. This occasion is also the only time I've been near to throw away a controller while playing a game.

I remember being initially scared of that Bowser encounter, especially with the shrinking battleground. :lolo:

Bowser from Super Mario Galaxy he was tough but after a while became easy to defeat but I think he was my favourite Boss especially with the great ending.

My favorite was Ganon from Legend of Zelda because when I was a kid I had NOTHING BUT A MAP and I worked so hard to get to him, I couldnt figure out how to beat him, then a friend told me to look for silver arrows (2 treasures in that dungeon) and finally beat him! that was way before the internet existed (except for the military)

I also forgot to mention Legion from the Castlevania games (He is a boss in most of the GBA and all of the DS Castlevania games).
That is a pretty awesome boss. He (it, they?) isn't very hard to beat, but man is it freaking looking. It's especially unexpected to see on a GBA game...

True, Legion was AWESOME.

Hmmmm... I liked the bosses from The World Ends With You a lot. Oh, and Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts.

Contra 3/Super Probotector always stands out to me.

A giant atomic turtle, An enormous Metal Man who rives open the wall behind you, to leaping from missile to missile blasting away at a gigantic floating air base.
That game had so many memorable bosses and mini bosses

Bumping, in the event of another boss thread has appeared.

I'm terrible at choosing a favourite so...yeah =/

However the most recent fun boss fight that I had was in Far Cry 2 (o_0) While he wasn't strictly a boss...

Basically, he was the king of the country, and you had to raid a castle and kill him. Come on...raid a freaking castle!

Literally all the bosses in the Metroid Prime series

The End Boss of Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal

Orochi from Okami

Every boss from The King of Fighters, although I suppose Orochi and Mukai stand out the most for me.

Zankuro from Samurai Shodown III

Omega from Mega Man ZX

All Four of the optional Bosses from Kingdom Hearts, but I suppose if I had to pick one, it would be the 4-armed guy.

I know there's somebody from Sonic, and someone from Zelda, but I can't remember right now, so I'll have to come back and edit this later.

I have quite a few really.

Zelda OOT: Although i like all the bosses from this game Volvagia and King Dudongo are my faverites since i really like their theme music.

Super Metroid: Fighting Mother Brain.

Those are my main faverites i can think about at the moment.
