View Full Version : What exactly do the remote jackets do?

The obvious guess would be to protect it, but can you still hook up the classic controller to it, does it block any parts for connections?

I think it's to make it more comfortable to hold as well as protecting it.

Probably yes, plus they're free. I'll get anything if it's in anyway worthwhile if it's free...

Well Its free Its safer, and supposed to be comfier. Also on the back there's a flap for when you put in your classic controller or whatever.

That's where the wrist strap is supposed to come in. Nevertheless, people are still going to hold the controller without the strap on with the jacket on the controller. I know I probably will.

It doesn't block any button, speaker, pointer or connection. Ive actually seen a set-up of the jacket with the nun-chuk attached. So no worries ;)

They protect your tv, stereo, speakers and unlucky people around you. Not only do they do that. They do so much more. LIKE!

Looking insanely gumpy.
Making you feel like an Idiot when someone sees you playing with a big protective aperatus on a piece of hardware that is ALREADY strapped to your arm and firmly gripped in your hand! =P
Obviously I got my Sleeves today. Im not impressed but hey its free.

As expected Nintendo of Europe are taking ages to send them out. I haven't even got my e-mail saying they've sent it so I'm still waiting.
So I have a couple of questions. Does it feel any more/less comfortable than before? And, it looks like you can't press the power button with the jackets on, is that true?

My 4 came today, I have 2 remotes but might get another couple eventually so I decided to get 2 extra. I'm finding them quite comfortable actually, though they are quite bulky. Yes you have to press the power button through the jacket but it isn't hard to do at all.

I got my 4 yesterday. I really like them a lot. No buttons are blocked except for the power button but you can still use the button. I really think they make the wiimote feel awesome. Here's to all the people who wasted money buying sleeves:cry:

Some time ago I bought 2 - inclusive Nunchuck protection.
And yesterday I got 4 extra ones by Nintendo.
Really the only complaint I have that there's no Nunchuk jackets with the free ones.
But since theyre free, well... this wasnt a complaint at all.

28th October 2007, 05:07 AM
but nintendos not really exspecting you to throw your nunchuk through your TV
SKTTR
29th October 2007, 01:30 AM
why not? the nunchuck has the same motion sensor.
Joxe
29th October 2007, 02:13 PM
The nunchuk is rather lightweight so it'll probably just bounce off the screen ^_^
dk_xcalibur
29th October 2007, 02:50 PM
I don't think Nintendo is worried about the nunchuck being launched at the TV because it's attached to the Wiimote. If the player played games by using just the nunchuck then Nintendo would give jackets for them also. Most games where the player uses both the nunchuck and wiimote don't have the same crazy motion as games with just the wiimote, and I think this has to do more with the player then the game.

Here we disagree again. I think they look great. I often think that they should have had them from the start. It adds yet another level of duribility to an already very well built Nintendo product.
You should at least send for them. You might be able to make a few bucks on ebay with people that are casual gamers that don't know that they can get them for free. Or you can throw them on a shelf until that night when you have a bunch of crazy friends over (or little ones) or when you travel to protect them a little more.......I don't know, they're free!

They feel really comfortable when pressing the "B" button especially, it just feels right. I probably wouldn't have even got the jackets if they weren't free, and I got a pleasant surprise when they turned out so well.

yeah, they're the best jackets so far, i tried three different ones but the Nintendo one stands out because of three reasons:
1. these jackets are thick and protect the wiimote from breaking if they fall on hard ground. no more being afraid to let your little neighbor kiddies play, you know? no other jacket had this pleasure.
2. these jackets are easy to remove (to exchange batteries) and easy to put back on. this was a real pain with the other two jackets i used.
3. these jackets are free.
and therefore I don't care how they look.

a few more days and I'll have my jackets. It was supposed to come on Halloween but Nintendo's say it may take 5 to 10 days longer so I don't have to wait too long.

they are a lot more comfortable if im playing with the wiimote sideways like if im playing Ice Hockey, especially since my tendency is to put my pointer finger on top(or side) of the wiimote. i also love the protective flap for the connection port for the nunchuk/classic controller

The shoemaker

Is there a little flap for the batteries too or do you have to take them off. and sektor, do you even have the jackets to see what there like? If you don't like them you can always give them away or throw them out there free you know.

No you have to left the back of the jacket off for that or take it off altogether, which is a good thing or most of the back of the remote wouldn't be covered by the jacket. It's easy anyway.

I'm starting to think that my order went bad. It's too much time I asked for them and not even received a single e-mail.
Can some of you at least tell me that they send you e-mails? So I'd definetly know that I have to order again.
Thanks.

Mine arrived last week and I put them on and hated them at first, how they looked, how pointless they seemed. I didn't think I'd use them for long but they have grown on me, especially (as franman781 said) when holding it sideways, it makes it bigger and much more comfortable to grip onto, it's no longer like playing with a NES controller, essential for games like Sonic and the Secret Rings, Excite Truck, etc., and TG/NES games from VC. Plus now they won't break if you drop them, and perhaps more importantly they won't dent your wooden floor, which is good.
Are they giving them away with new Wiimotes now?

I got my jacket last week and it looks really slick (given the price!)
and the improved grip is a welcome addition. The thing that is bothering
me is the padded head that covers some of the IR "eye"-
I'm sure it is causing some interference because when I play
wii-sports I can't do "smoking serves" or bowl perfect games anymore.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I might try trimming the aperture and seeing what happens.

I like it a lot. The wiimote now fits perfectly in my not so small hand and in particular holding it horizontally, the bulky top finally fills my left palm.

I just got mine a few days ago too. I really like them they give the wiimote some extra weight, without them it's too light. It feels a lot better and I feel more safe. playing nes games just feel all around better, and when charging my remotes all I have to do is flip the back up a little. Sadly I got The jackets a little later than I wanted to. Because I just move my room downstairs and theres a heater on the roof of my room at I was playing warioware and I guess I move my arm up too much and hit the heater. Now I have an indent on the top corner of my wiimote right where all of that squshy protective stuff would be on the jackets. And I'm also having trouble doing those crazy serves in wii sports. and I noticed there's alot of the senser on the remote being blocked. Oh and may I say that the jackets feal really good when playing warioware.

Well, I finally did end up ordering the jackets for the heck of it, and I received them a few weeks ago. At first, I thought it made the Wiimote too bulky, but, given a little time, it gave it a real comfortable feel. It won't win any aesthetic awards, though; it's still fugly as hell.

I just got a charger and some rechargable "AA"s for Christmas. I would keep a close eye on those charging stations.....I've heard horror stories of them melting Wiimotes. Of course there are over a dozen of different charge stations and I'm not sure which ones are good or bad.
Nintendo should make something and make more $$$.

I remember reading something to that effect, yes. But remotes would still come without sleeves if the store ordered them in before October-whatever, whenever it was that Nintendo started shipping remotes with the new sleeves).

You might know already, but sometimes automated emails get chucked into trash by your spam filter. If you're expecting an email from some place and it hasn't shown up, you may want to browse through your trash or spam folders.
