little tidbit of news on Spielberg / EA Wii project:

From BBC Website:

Spielberg's gaming vision emerges

Spielberg is the Oscar-winning director of Saving Private Ryan
Two video games developed with director Steven Spielberg are to be shown off at the E3 conference in Los Angeles.
The filmmaker has collaborated with Electronic Arts, the world's largest games publisher, on three titles.

The first, codenamed LMNO, is a contemporary action adventure, said Neil Young, general manager of EA's Los Angeles studio.

The second, with the codename PQRS, is a puzzle game designed for Nintendo's Wii console.

In an interview with Newsweek magazine, Spielberg said the puzzle game "seemed like a great thing for the entire family to play together over Christmas; although you don't need the excuse of a holiday to enjoy it."

The game has been described as a mix of Saturday-morning cartoon and Jenga.

'Chemical reaction'

Mr Young said: "Of course just playing with blocks does not a game make.

"Now imagine there are up to 50 different properties that can be associated with them. They can explode or form a chemical reaction."

The Mario Galaxy announcement makes me chirpy as well, though I'll reserve judgement until the inevitable PAL delay.

As for SSBB... pffft. Couldn't care less.

It wasn't brilliant, but I love the look of Wii Fit myself. I'm not too sure about Mario Kart with a wheel mind, I personally think it'd work better with a nunchuk+Wii remote. Still, consider that judgement reserved :)

Looked at a lot of videos on Gametrailers.com. I think they should have picked someone else to make the announcements, even if he's NoA's top dog. :?

Wii Fit does indeed look interesting, although I wonder how long the life cycle of that pad is going to be. Definitely not sold on the Wii Wheel; strange-looking thing. The Zapper could be worthwhile. Let's see whether EA will get a hang of the controls with MoH this time around, since the game is supposed to be designed specifically for Wii.

As for the games, Spider-Man and Crash of the Titans look like they're trying to be Saturday morning cartoons. =/ Boogie still looks too gimmicky to me; I'll have to see, hear, and read more about it to make up my mind.

I hope they get the controls right with Mario Kart Wii (didn't I see one or two DS courses?), but in overall functionality it should definitely trump the DS version, with more players in online races and BATTLE MODE! - the latter should have been included in the DS, in my opinion.

Games I'll very much consider for purchase will be Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Fire Emblem, Nights (depending on controls/reviews), probably RE: Umbrella Chronicles, and Williams Pinball collection - I'm a sucker for pinball games. I'm sure there are other games that haven't been shown or I haven't seen yet that might be worth a consideration.

Edit: Totally forgot about Battalion Wars 2. Should be fun.

I was only able to get in sound and not video from the presentation today but it didn't really bring anything new to it in games wise. It's interesting how Nintendo want to bring even more gagets for the Wii though. Will we end up with a whole box of them in the end? Who knows. And no hdd, oh well. Still looking forward to Metroid Prime 3 and Boogie actually looks promesing.

Eh, I wasn't that moved by Nintendo's show this year, I guess its because I had a reasonable indication of what they would show and what it would look like... The 3 games that have caught my eyes most are:

1.Ghost Squad - Love arcade shooters.
2.NiGHTS - I have no idea what this game is about because I never played the original but it looks interesting.
3.Super Mario Galaxy - Looks fantastic. It was this video that got me really interested:

Hmm, so Animal Crossing on the Wii is on hiatus it seems but Shigsy in a roundabout way did drop a hint about a HDD attachment at the end when IGN asked him about "what he would like to change about the hardware?" So, theres hope yet that the process of SD to PC wont still be needed in the end of the Wii's lifespan.

Finally saw some Thrillville videos. It very possibly won't look as good on the Wii, but the game looks like it could be a lot of fun. I've always loved tinkering with rollercoasters and such.

Not sure what to make of Spielberg's Blocks. Could be a nice puzzle game, but it seems like such an odd choice.

The felling I got from E3 is that E3 is dead. The ones in charge went out of their way to dumb it down and make it worthless for the actual gamers.

My felling is that there probably will not be a E3 next year, and as far as gamming news I'm far more interested in what will be announced at the Comic Con, and at the gamming convention in Germany next month.

Sony has said they will be making some big announcement’s in Germany and I am guessing so will Microsoft and Nintendo.

The felling I got from E3 is that E3 is dead.

Yeah...many, many people were saying exactly the same thing before it. Still...I have to agree it's not been as big this year as in previous but this may have to do with the companies who sponsor E3 realising that if they put their money into events where the general public can view their products they may be getting better value.

Still...a lot of interesting stuff came out of E3 so I feel that rumours of it's demise are greatly exaggerated.

I thought E3 was awesome for all systems this year. All games and no new systems!!!!!!! Long live E3!!!!!!

Wii Fit looks interesting and the Balance Board looks sweat. I'm already dreaming of a surfing game and a golf game that combines the Balance Board and Wiimote.

Mario Galaxy is the one "must have" game for me. The levels look HUGE. My guess is that the bee suit is the only one Nintendo is showing. The bosses......WOW.

Metroid Prime 3's new footage looks great.....only a month away. Nintendo's saying the controls are the best in a first person shooter.

Dewy and Da Blob look interesting.

I'm pumped for Mario Kart. I think the wheel looks cool with the slot in the back for the B button. Playing with the wheel sounds way better then with the wiimote and nunchuck. Start your engines!

Nights looks cool. If we can just get Nintendo to start releasing Saturn games then those of us who never played the original game can download it.

I was disappointed in not hearing anything about Wii Music.

Super Mario Galaxy : Also has a Boo suit.

Metroid Prime 3 : If the controls are really THAT good, make online multiplayer, Nintendo!

I would be a lot more skeptical about this if the driving bits in Wario Ware: Smooth Moves hadn't worked so well. Some of the awful attempts at using the Remote as a steering wheel (4x4 Thunder or whatever that godawful game was called) didn't show the tech in its best light. As it is, as long as it's precise enough, this might actually be the best thing that's happened to Mario Kart since online play. I'm hoppping for the best.

Time Crisis on the PS3 actually looks really good. Perhaps I am biased as a lover of previous games in the series, but whereas I couldn't care less about RE:Umbrella Chronicles, Time Crisis 4 with the GunCon 3 looks promising. Apparently the GC3 will let you centre your aim before the game starts, something I hope the Wii titles will do as well.

I did not say Time Crisis looks bad and I also liked the previous games its just the fact that it looks worse than the Nes zapper that’s the problem (hopefully they will change the colour back to black when it comes to Europe) as well as the fact it seems awkward to hold.

Sorry, I was too much into Excite Truck.. there was no use for the B-Button or the pointer.
So Mario Kart Wii uses the B-Button and the pointer... that's special indeed.

Not just Disaster... (it was made by the Xenogears people right?!)

I really enjoyed Fire Emblem on the cube but the wait for the next game is really turning me off from the series. This game was released last winter in Japan and is not coming out until November. The translation shouldn't take a year should it? I'm almost to the point of giving up on the series. What really sucks is the fact that its only a Gamecube port to the Wii. I say we give Japan Metroid Prime 3 next sumer

I can live with that. As long as it has what's making this series outstanding:
An epic storyline, many lovable characters inside the party,
great battle places, overall nice graphics and an amazing soundtrack.

DK Bongo Blast is a gamecube port
Kirby is a gamecube port
Fire Emblem is a gamecube port

don't matter.

Fire Emblem Path of Radiance is my favourite Fire Emblem game.
And it's good to see a sequel (for my favourite console) no matter what.
I can live with that. As long as it has what's making this series outstanding:
An epic storyline, many lovable characters inside the party,
great battle places, overall nice graphics and an amazing soundtrack.
Metroid Prime 3 isn't, is it. :?

Well, SKTTRBRUISE is probably taking it too seriously. Nintendo admitted that the first playable demos of MP3 (was it last E3?) were in fact driven by a overpowered GameCube disguised as a Wii.
Nontheless, the game has been developed widely for the Wii. And it was not intended to be released for GCN, as opposite to SPP and TLoZ:TP.

Although there has been little or no mention of it since nintendo announced it would be switched to wii.

There was an article on IGN just before wii launched, IIRC it had it down as TBA 2007 in Japan.

I'm pumped for Mario Kart. I think the wheel looks cool with the slot in the back for the B button. Playing with the wheel sounds way better then with the wiimote and nunchuck. Start your engines!

I was disappointed in not hearing anything about Wii Music.

Mario Kart's Wii Wheel : Not that original. Whats so special about it?

Wii Music : SHHHAAAMMEEE! WHERE IS THIS? And Animal Crossing, and Disaster, and SADNESS! ^^

What's so special about it? How about the fact that its packed in with the game. Plus it looks like it has a slot for the B button and a slot for the wii remote sensor. I can't wait to drive a kart with the wheel.

I'm really surprised not to see Disaster: Day of Crisis now that you mention it. Animal Crossing might be further off then we would like and Sadness is a Wii game but not a Nintendo property. I bet we'll see new stuff for Sadness in Germany. Nibris has promised new footage before the end of the year.

nothing special about it...only that it fits the wii mote and the b button perfectly. other than that, it's just plastic

nintendo is doing the right thing by giving it for free with MK. they know it's nothing special, so why the complaints?

anywho, E3 07 had Nintendo as their MVP. much more to offer over sony and Microsoft.

mario kart, metroid, release dates for ssbb and mario galaxy. game over

Sony had awesome stuff too. me and my friend have ps3 and DLed the free e3 ps3 exclusive video. and oh man am i excited for it

RE5 (YES YES YES YES YES)
call of duty 4
metal of honor: airborn
burnout paradise
GTA 4
little big planet
Ps3 Home

Just for the record, I have no problem with ports. I just don't feel that we should wait 1-2 years to play them.
