Donkey Kong Country - Games saves?

Sorry if this is a dumb question :wink: , but how the heck do I save a game in Donkey Kong Country on the VC? I've done the first three levels countless times and am getting sick of having to repeat them.

At least with an emulator on the PC you can save a state anywhere in the game and resume it later....

After about every 5-8 levels there is this place called "Candy's save point". You save the game there.

a trick for beginners: beat the first stage "jungle fever".
now you can always enter this stage to pick up lives.

pause the game with START, and then SELECT to quit the level and start the level again.
you dont lose the lives and the secrets youve found.

pick up as many lives as you want (preferably in the DK's hut) and you should make your way to the first candy save spot.
