I was just thinking about this game a few minutes ago and I'm dying to play it again! :)

It was one of my favourites in the N64 days but I never actually got round to completing it and to do so on the VC would be oh so sweet :D

The thing I enjoyed most about was playing as all of the 5 kongs, their weapons and the animals they transformed into, and even though many people thought it was too much of a collect em-up, I really liked the game.

Any others looking forward to the release (if and when it happens)?

DK64 is one of the best non-RARE platformers on N64

But it was a RARE game... I hope the licensing issues don't affect it's release, though DKC1/2 should mean it will arrive.

Nah, Licencing should be no problem. Nintendo owns DK so they have the right to put any DK game on the VC reguardless of who made it.

Wonder if arcade DK and Jetpac will still be in it... o.o

Oh, Yeah, I forgot that it was RARE, I was thinking it was Nintendo

DK 64 was one of the most overrated N64 games...I love Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, CBFD and DKC1-3, but DK 64 was just average at best in my opinion.

Yeh, but I don't think they'll cut out Arcade DK

If anything, they'll cut out Jetpac. They'd have no reason to cut out the original arcade DK.

Theres only one reason they d take DK out and thats the NES DK on the VC. But yeah, its unlikely they ll take it out. Would mean we d get the almighty missing level. XD

Why would they cut out the original Donkey Kong when it's already on the virtual console?

They wouldn't, they may cut the jetpac though

The original Arcade DK - It's not on the VC!

The VC has the NES version (worse graphics, minus one level).

So if Nintendo's nice, they keep it in DK64, because it was a fun and cool in-game-element and we want the full and original arcade DK!! And yes, Jetpac too! It would suck, if these two arcade orginals will get kicked from the VC version of DK64. Anyway, I have this game on N64, and if gaming times get calmer I'm gonna play it again. (Beaten it only once! With all 5 Kongs 100%)

I think it was a very good platformer, although I was disappointed by the music. Not, that it's bad, but it's not the Donkey Kong Country series anymore - It's Donkey Kong 64 (it sounded much like Banjo-Kazooie's music at first but eventually it had his tunes that could grow on you). Anyway, it's a 3D-adventure/jump'n'run with tons of collectibles. I loved it, because there was so much to do. It will keep you busy for weeks of intensive ape gaming if you want to get the best ending and every collectible.
Ah yes, graphically it's one of the best N64 games if the enemies wouldn't fade in pretty late.

'Cause I hadn't seen it before posting. So afterwards I saw the replys on the second page and realized my post was unnecessary...but since I can't delete it, I just edited it.

I was always a little kid when I played n64 games so I could never beat this game. It's a game that I'm totally getting.

Bump is right... and on my thread, tut tut :)

It shouldn't be too long til we're getting this, what with the DKC trilogy out in nearly a month in both regions.

Would this game be a bit big in size? It was pretty lengthy and it needed the Expension Pak to work...

I personally found DK64 to be one of the biggest disappointments on the N64. The game looked great and it had a fantastic soundtrack (like most Rare games), but I couldn't get pass the fact that the whole game seemed like one huge collect-a-thon.

"Go find bananas for each character, now go find color coded blueprints for each character, okay, now go and find the golden bananas that only certain characters can get. Got that? Good. Wait! You missed a blueprint for Tiny Kong way back at the top of that huge mountain! Get up there! And you're lacking in the bananas for Chunky. Maybe you should back track."

Ugh. I hated DK64. I loved the other Rare N64 games like Banjo-Kazooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day. But DK64? I was not feeling that one.

Although, DK64 did give us Lanky Kong, one of the most badass Donkey Kong characters in a long time.

I thought it was pretty good. Not quite Banjo plus I loved Conker to bits, but you know.
