Hey,
Been messing around with the Virtual Console and having some surreal flashbacks. One of them is a game I absolutely adored that I cannot remember the name of (drink and sex having taken place of that in the grey stuff) that I played for 2 days straight at an Aunties house and never saw again (the game and the Auntie).
The game involved the player selecting one of 12 to 24 (possibly more) mini-characters to play on the specific section. A section would start up, you select one of these characters and complete the section. The gameplay basically involved getting from one end (starting at the bottom of the screen) and getting to the other (at the top of the screen), killing / destorying any villians and emplacements. The catch was that if your character died, you could select another player to play with and restart the level - however, a mini-version of the last char remained on the level and if you moved over them, they kinda tagged the main char. If you died again, the mini-version disappears and you could only select the previous char. But if you got to the end with the mini-char in tow, they were available again.
Not only that, you could only select a character two, possibly three times (a bit hazy). This became the fun element of the game working which character to utilise for each level (saving the heavy duty guys to the last levels).
The characters I remember were a Viking who had a massive crossbow, a 'savage' who threw spears, a rocket man who fired rockets, a hi-tech dude who had a pretty awesome laser thing, and an archer dude as well.
If anyone remembers this game, I would dearly love to a) know what it was called and b) if its available on the VC.
Thanks for your time!
