I'm pretty much brand new here on these forums and I've read a thing or two about some Rare and VC issues. DK64 was my favorite game for the 64 (wasn't at the time but now that i look back i had more good memories of DK64 than OOT) and I'd love to see it added to VC. Seeing as Donkey kong Country and its sequel are on VC, would DK64 have any characters or attributes that would keep it from being released on VC? Or am i just misinterpreting everything about the Rare and VC issues.

Definitely. Once DKC 3 is released, there is almost no doubt of seeing DK64 appearing.
If I had to guess, I'd say DKC 3 will come out around Fall, and DK64 in early 2008.

We have characters from DK64 appearing in both Rare's portable ports and Paon's upcoming DK Jet. It will be released, there's no licensing issue here.
There may be a size issue though.

I agree after DKC 3 is released they will release at some point. It is the last DKC game released ever although it wasn't called DKC 4.

I'd say Goldeneye, then Perfect Dark... Then Jet force Gemini. However, DK64 will come regardless. Nintendo owns the characters, not Rare. I would like to see Diddy Kong Racing, but I doubt.

It would have been an insult to call DK64 part of the DKC series...they have nothing alike. i'd take any DKC game over DK64 any day of the week :)

I'm not agreeing much there.
I consider DK64 to be DKC 64 or DKC 4.
It just happened they didn't name it that way.
Does Super Mario Bros and Super Mario 64 play the same? Not really.
Is it a part of the Bros series?
Yep. At least I think so.

I really hope it does become available, but it's definitely not as likely as DKC3, what with it being more closely related to games like Banjo Kazooie and stuff like that.
Also I'm guessing you'll have to wait a while, seeing as the only N64 games released so far are all first-party Nintendo titles, so we'll have to wait and see.

Well, it means that when someone makes a sequel they don't have to bother thinking of a fancy new name for it as they can just slap a 64 or DS on the end of it.

There would have been a conflict in releasing DK64 becuase rareware was bought by Microsoft, but since Donkey Kong is a nintendo made character there shouldnt be a problem.
I am curious to see how Banjo plays on the xbox 360.....

it doens't matter at all if Rare has made DK64.
Everything DK related is onwed by Nintendo and it's a given fact that DK64 will appear on VC.
Also the banjo games will not appear in their N64 form on XBLA. That would require running a N64 emulator(= Nintendo owned code) on the Xbox360 and Ninty would never allow that.
I think Rare will reprogramm the Banjo games(with updated graphics etc) to make them run directly from Xbox360 hardware. I see no other possibility.

All told, if a Rare game was available for Virtual Console, I would want Jet Force Gemini or Perfect Dark first.
Unfortunately, you picked two of the least likely titles. Those are both Rare developed and Rare published.
I'd love to see them, but we have a better chance of seeing Banjo. Nintendo published it.

I don't think that's the problem, a third party N64 emulator would contain no Nintendo code and there are already ones for PC and other platforms (and they're not technically illegal by themselves, only the roms are).
I'd love to see them, but we have a better chance of seeing Banjo. Nintendo published it.
Microsoft bought the rights to the whole Banjo series, so although Nintendo published it I don't think that counts anymore, it's Microsoft's game. That's how I understand it anyway. I guess it could technically be on Xbox 360 (like I said above) - although I don't know what would happen about the Nintendo logo at the start.

I hate suggesting this, but Nintendo could always just cut out Jetpac. Hey, they've cut out pretty much everything else in their VC games that could even REMOTELY cause a lawsuit to be filed against them.
