View Full Version : Devil's Crush 2P - No, seriously, what the hell?

So, I've just downloaded Devil's Crush and have found it to be very entertaining.
Only thing is (and I swear this isn't just sour grapes), I've just played it against the missus, and she was useless. No offense, but she was probably on screen for about a minute in total, while I was probably whacking my balls around for a good quarter of an hour, including a good three or four of the bonus stages.
How, then, did her score end up 2,000,000 more than mine??!?! She ended up with nearly four million bonus points at the end of her go, the length of which can't have been more than ten seconds and consisted of nothing more than a couple of the running-around-dudes.
Seriously, what the hell? How is the 2P scoring meant to work? It almost seems like P2 gets all the bonuses from P1's turn...!
Anyone come across this before?
And before you ask, yes I'm certain she didn't do better than me.:wink:

Maybe you were actually playing as player 2
Just a guess

 Fair question, but no, I'm certain I wasn't. I may be stupid, but I'm not an idiot... ;)
I played it again today, two player, and same story:
All the multipliers I earned stayed when player 2 had a go, and they accumulated throughout the game to the point where between us we had x9 bonus multiplier. I got an extra ball allocated, but when P2 finished their game, they took all 4,000,000 of my bonus points. On my final ball, all the bonuses had reset completely, leaving me with just 1,080.
I my copy of the game broken? Has anyone any ideas, because this seems like it is a real rip-off as the only reason I bought the game was for some two-player score battles. :(

Tell Nintendo's customer service? Might be the emulator's fault.

I've emailed Hudson to see what they say. If it's a bug, I might see how one goes about getting refunds on these things. ;)

OK. My love of this game is fading rapidly. I was trying to figure out how to save it, and ended up somehow in the password entry screen. Um. Hello? Once you're there there's no way to back out of it.
Speaking of which, there's no way to go back from ANY menu choice you make. Sure, you can reset the software, but this seems like unforgivably sloppy programming in my eyes. It could be a great game, but for me, slapdash programming such as this isn't acceptable now, and shouldn't have been back then.
Unless of course, someone can tell me that I'm doing something wrong? Are these all emulation problems? Did anyone actually play the original TG16 version?

I've encountered a similar issue with Bomberman '93. You can't go "back" in menus, and once you've finished a multiplayer game, you can't exit the winner screen without resetting the "console".

Tried pressing Start?

Indeed I have. I've pressed every button on the Wiimote, to no avail. I have to reset the emulator to get back to the options/title screen. Very odd. Given Alex's similar troubles, I wonder if there's some general issue with TG emulation. Or maybe the original games were like this?

In that case, you know, email Hudson or Nintendo.

I'm not that bothered by it, to be honest, and I only mentioned it now because Alex brought up a similar issue.
As for downloading the game again. Tried that, but there's no change.

Re-Download the game.
That will never work, unless it says there's an update available.

I also noticed that the spinning pentagrams were missing. They're spinning triangles now.

Guys guys guys, lets just relax. BTW you can reset all Turbo Grafx games by holding + and pressing - This doesn't remove your highscores either, unlike the Reset option in the Virtual Console's pause menu. Go ahead try it!

Now, it's not a "back" button, but that's information worth knowing! Thanks!

Here's one. I snapped it with my cell phone.

And here's what the original version looked like.

See the two stars in the skeletons hands? They're both triangles on the Wii. Thankfully, the center star is still there.

Wow, thanks for the pics. I can't believe Nintendo is censoring the old games...
Expect no graves with crosses in Cratermaze, then.

yes its a star of david --- and you have to hit it.. why why why? SHALOM!
in OoT it was a moon and star? turkish flag? --- MUSLIMS are so bad !!! lol
mymy, in Goemon it was a swastika. --- all i can say is NAZI!
just kidding. other countries - other culture - other behaviour.
while i'm not offended by any of these, some people are.
it seems some symbols don't do good in a game within a minority.
i suppose there are new Nintendo directives to keep their games clean,
so everyone, even the minorities who have a problem with ambiguous symbols, can enjoy them.
the problem is, in Japan these are holy symbols
while other parts of the crazy world made the symbols TERROR like.

Which makes me wonder why they didn't put pentagrams there instead. Those triangles look somewhat strange.
Actually, the swastika is a good sign that has been used mainly as a religious symbol throughout history. It's just that the Nazis *******ized it. =/

If your score is below 500,000 or so after the first two balls, three spinning triangles appear above the bottom flippers. These nearly guarantee that the player will be warped to the top screen, where it is possible to score high quickly. Is it possible that this is what happened?
