I could not see any threads on de Blob, so I thought of making one
simply for related discussion, to see who has bought it, what people
think of it etc...
I bought it on release and have not been able to put it down since-
right now I would say it is the best 3rd party release since Boom Blox
(and beats it).
The graphics are sublime and definitely the best out of all the Wii games
I have bought. If you have this and are playing it through the composite
cable supplied... for shame! Go buy an RGB/ component cable- the gameplay
looks divine and the cutscene quality is amazing.
My other favourite aspect is the soundtrack- like Chibi-Robo, your
movements (specifically painting) trigger sound elements but they
are in sync with the background music and vary with your colour e.g.
red triggers a horn chorus, brown makes a (DJ) scratching sound, blue:
guitar riff, orange: trumpet lick etc...
Gameplay-wise, there is a lot on offer- the levels are very large and
have numerous objectives to enable progress to the end, as well as
mini objectives for statistical purposes (e.g. number of billboards painted,
trees blossomed etc.). Your final rating is medal-based and affects the
unlockables- ranging from mini-games, promo-movies and the usual
artwork-stuff. The game has high replayability because some areas
are well hidden/ not so accessible, therefore it is not always possible
to fully explore and paint a level the first time round due to the time
constraints... perfectionists beware, you may spend a lot of time revisiting
levels. There are also multiplayer modes but I have not accessed them
yet.
Anyhow, that is my tuppence worth- I am sure there is more worth
mentioning... or not! I would like to see what others think of it.

I find it an awesome game. Which is really surprising, since I thought the demo sucked when I got to play it last month. However, I gave it a chance due to the stellar reviews and a recommendation from a friend (who said it was like Jet Grind, and it is).
I love the artistic style to the game. It's like a mock/non-intrusive graffiti design.
My only gripes with the game are:
- The lack of a map. It kinda kills the pacing of the game to: be on a really good painting run, do a blue challenge as you go, and end up on the other side of level with no clue where you are.
- The fact that jump is mapped to an arm motion. I'm a pretty strong dude (I do about 175-200 push ups every other morning), but this game actually made my forearm tired.
- The lack of save points within a level map. It's kind of a drag to know that I HAVE to set aside 40 minutes to an hour per play through (or more), since you can't save inside each "sandbox" world.

I second that. It literally gets a bit tiring after a while. A jump button would have been very welcome.
Other than that is indeed a fun and quirky game. Another third-party success.

Those are my only compaints.
Other than that, the game is amazing.
It's easily one of the of the best third-party games on the Wii this year, if not THE best.

This game looked really cool. I've yet to see it played in person but from what I remember it looking like, I really wanted it. Would everyone here recommend it?

Oh yes. :) I'd go so far to say that it's in the league of Super Mario Galaxy! Relaxing, but it isn't too easy. It's well worth a purchase :)

Originally I thought I saw this game around for $29.99 new, but now I can't find it anywhere except one used copy priced at $44! If it goes back down to sweet bargain price I may consider adding it to my giant list of games I own but don't have time to play.

I bought this on day of release at JB-Hifi for $64.00 AUD (currently $42.75 USD), which is quite the bargain here. Generally new releases and most games are RRP $99.95 AUD, and at Toys 'r' Us they're $79.95 AUD.
And that's alright, SAB! Any time :)

Yeah, tell me about it. I'm glad I'm not the only one constantly buying games and not playing them due to other responsibilities. Ah, to be a kid again.

Ah, to stay a kid forever :p
I'm *still* up to The Docklands, but I'm ready to play it today, and hopefully finish it :)

This game is superb. You can clearly see a lot of love went into this game and it oozes quality. I love the soundtrack as it reminds me of Toejam and Earl, and it's impressive the way that the way you play not only affects the environment but the music too. Very, very addictive and plenty of replay value.
I'm Kent Brockman and that's my two cents.

I know how you feel. My Games to Beat list keeps getting larger and larger, but my Games Beaten list remains the same. Mabye I should beat some of my VC games and Orbient instead of just Brawling all of the time. I'm still working on de Blob (great game), but at least I'm working on it at a steady pace. I really like the extra unlockable missions. There's just something undeniably fun about this game. The one thing I don't like about it is how tough it is to complete a level 100%. I spent about 15 minutes looking for the last tree I needed to get only to realize I had about 1:45 to get to the exit pool on the opposite side of the level. I made it, but de Blob is a bit annoying to the completionist in me. To the gamer in me that just enjoys good games, though, de Blob is fantastic.
