I totally did not know (or perhaps I forgot) that the game was released on the GC. I might pick this up from ebay. It certainly was one of my favorites on the ill-fated Dreamcast.

but remember this is the very first CRAZY TAXI. only one city.
good for arcade retro fans.

note: this has VERY first generation dreamcast graphics and is not very detailed at all.

I certainly know its limitations. It's still going to be a blast to play. :)

That is possibly one of the funnest 10 minute at a time games I've played.

There are 2 places on the GC game...

Definitely one of my favourite 'Cube games, I really should play it again soon!

I'd love to have a chance at playing the sequels, it's a shame they never got a GC release.

Ah, Crazy Taxi. An arcade classic on GC... :)

Does anyone know if the sequal were any good. I also heard the upcoming Fare Wars on PSP will be a port of the first 2 CTs.

Great game, it has so many sequals and clones which has tende to make people forget the original, but the original itself is a classic. Crazy Taxi 2 is only on Dreamcast so far (GC/PS2 never got a port of the sequal), it's more of the same and there are so many games like it, but if you're a big fan you'll want to get it. Crazy Taxi 3 is on Xbox and contains one level each from CT and CT2 and a new 3rd level, so that might be a good one to start out on if you're new to the series, but I've not played it so I can't tell you if it's a good version.

How does the GC version compare to the Dreamcast one? Worse? Better? I'd be interested in tossing a few bucks at it just to relive the glory. This along with Jet Grind Radio were my most played games on the DC.

Played Crazy Taxi on the PC quite a lot. It was one of those games you could pick up and play for only a few minutes and still always get a bit of fun from it.

Got a copy in the mail about two days ago. Gosh, I've forgotten how difficult it could be to get the most out of your time. Great game, though.

Who cares about its limitations, it's an absolute blast to play.

Played it again last night, just as fun as ever.
Can you turn around fast if someone's asking to go the opposite direction to where you're facing, or get any type of speed boost rather than accelerating slowly?
Turning around and slow acceleration are the main things holding me back from high scores...

Gamestation are crap if you're looking for a specific game.
Cex is very good, though I haven't seen Taxi there for a long time.
You can check what games they have in stock on www.cex.co.uk

Try Amazon, I've just had a quick look; Gamecube version from £3.69, Dreamcast version from £4.10, and Crazy Taxi 2 (Dreamcast Only) from £9.99, all from marketplace sellers. Or Gamestation usually have a copy or 2 of at least one version.

I'm dying to play that, I wish it was on DS! They brought Catch a Ride onto GBA, so why not? (I actually want to play that, to see if it's as awful as they say :D)

It may spoil your memories as the Dreamcast was better in pretty much everything (mostly controls; and they didn't even update the graphics for the Gamecube). This is probably why the DC version "seems" to be worth more than the Gamecube version, because there is more demand for it (although I ssaw one on Amazon for 99 cents).

It can't be on the DS because it would look like crap, it wouldn't be suited to non analog play, and I'd be happier if

a) They made a new Crazy Taxi game for the modern consoles (preferably the Wii)
b) They made a port/remake for one of the downloadable services (preferably the PSN, due to Wii's storage problems, but the 360 is probably gonna get it due to the fact that it gets a lot of Dreamcast games, and I consider X-Box the Dreamcasts spiritual succesor).

Crazy Taxi....eh...that game got old too quickly. Normally I like an arcade like experience, but not when it's this short! I got a copy of it early on in my Gamecube's life and sold it about 2 years later. While fun the fist time you play it, I had no reason to go back. I'd rather play one of those fun knock-off versions like The Simpsons Road Rage simply for the humor.

Like they say, quality over quantity (even IF there's so little).

Well, I didn't think the quality was enough to bring in that phrase. It's a situation where there isn't enough of either.

I gotta say, I agree with you completely. I never liked the Crazy Taxi for that very same reason, I just got old very fast.
It was fine when it cost a quarter to play for five minutes bursts, but I could never see myself sitting at home and playing it for any extended amount of time.

Well, I think you mean there wasn't enough quality to justify the short quantity, because it was a good game overall. I do agree with you, though. But still, instead of releasing a retail release of this game, they should either release a PSP compilation (like Power Stone 1 & 2), or they shuold put it in the XBLA, because it doesn't fit with the other download services.
