I am not selling anything but i just though i would bring this website to your attention.

It is a UK site which sells retro games and consoles, for those of you who dont have a credit card in your house (like me) then this is the site for you, it also accepts postal orders.

I found this site on an advertisement at the back of nintendo official magazine a few years back and have bought a few things from them (donkey kong country 1, 2 and 3, super mario 64) so it is a legit company.

Looks interesting for people who live in France. Won't help me out here in North America, though.

Why France in particular?

Why France in particular?

Because this site and the WiiWare World site intentionally (and erroneously) call the whole North American region by the name of one country. They're setting a good example!

Well, people seem to have this strange resolve that the Irish and the UK are attached at the hip.

That depends on whether you think of Northern Ireland as a hip. ;)

Those are political waters best left untread.

The same could be said about Niagra Falls though, between the US and Canada, but that's purely geographical from what I can see.

So how is this website for pricing and things of that nature?

So you're calling all of Europe France in protest against this site calling all of North America USA? Fair enough but I didn't know what you were on about.

I just want to import some European DS games. :[ Is there a store anywhere that will sell to the US?

I'm sure there are some, pdRydia, but I don't know because I've never needed to know. You could try play.com, I know they sell to the rest of Europe but I'm not sure about the US (they have a US branch now so make sure you get the UK site). I'm curious, what do we have that you can't get in America?

The specific games (and non-games) I'm looking into are:
-- Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat?
-- Essential Sudoku DS (the English-language, but European-only localization of Simple DS Series Vol. 7: The Illust Puzzle & Suuji Puzzle)
-- My Spanish Coach Level 2: Intermediate (EU-only)
-- Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

Why would you need Essential Sudoku DS? Don't Brain Age 1 & 2 have enough puzzles? Or those this game do something unique? Also, if you're looking for these games, why not use Ebay? If you feel wary of it, just throughly check the seller's feedback and always use Paypal and nothing else. (great, now I sound like an advertisement...)

Yep, eBay is great for stuff like this. I just imported copies of Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System and Sangokushi DS through eBay.

Why would you need Essential Sudoku DS? Don't Brain Age 1 & 2 have enough puzzles?Been there, done that, poked the animation and got the little dingy noises. After a while, I start to memorize the puzzles--not intentionally, mind you, but the patterns become routine. You can understand how this makes the game considerably less of a challenge?

Understand, now, I like me my puzzles. I'm sure a few dozen sudoku are more than enough for most people. But I'll easily go through 10x that number and nose around for more. Speaking of, the somewhat inaccurately named Essential Sudoku DS boasts aroundabout 1000 sudoku puzzles (about 10x what Brain Age has) as well as 1000 picross puzzles. That'd make it the only English-language picross game on the DS I know of other than Picross DS.

The icing on the cake is that I've read mostly good reviews of the game, with most complaints centering on the controls not being as good as they could/should be. There's no complaints of, say, the puzzles being broken or unplayable, like in Sudoku Mania / Sudokumaniacs (where the puzzles do not have unique solutions, which is kinda necessary for the game to work right :( Give me back my money FrontLine Studios).

Also, if you're looking for these games, why not use Ebay? If you feel wary of it, just throughly check the seller's feedback and always use Paypal and nothing else.[1] Because eBay sellers usually only accept Paypal from international bidders, [2] because eBay sellers rarely have more than one game I want at a time, especially when dealing with imports, [2a] especially when dealing with EU imports, [3] eBay sellers <strikeout>rip you a good one on shipping</strikeout> can't afford to give you the same kind of deals on shipping that retail outlets can, [4] bad experiences in the past with international--and, specifically, EU-US eBay dealings.

(great, now I sound like an advertisement...)No, you just sound like someone who--if you were making the decisions for me--would make the exact opposite decisions I would make. I'm glad you don't make the decisions in my life!

No, you just sound like someone who--if you were making the decisions for me--would make the exact opposite decisions I would make. I'm glad you don't make the decisions in my life! While you do make good points, I've never had those problems before. For statement 1, Paypal is a GOOD thing so I don't know why that would detract from it (unless I misunderstood your wording). For statement 2, that really depends on luck. For statement 3, I've found that eBay actually has much, much better shipping pricing on import games than places like play-asia.com or the likes but if Amazon started selling import games from their own store with the same shipping that they have for other items, I'd ditch eBay in a second. For statement 4, again, bad luck, I've never had a single problem unless it was my own fault for not reading carefully.

Paypal is a pain in the ass. I'd much rather use my debit or credit card directly, as I can with a store, than use a middleman who gets a cut of the transaction. Nevermind setting up the account, which involves hunting down my checkbook--which I never use (seriously, we only use physical checks for rent & utilities, and that's from our joint account; I'm not sure I even have a checkbook for my account).

Unless eBay sellers are also stores, they usually charge you for packaging on top of shipping. Also, some nuts insist on using particularly expensive shipping (UPS comes to mind). Some sellers also refuse to combine shipping, or their combined shipping "discounts" are a joke (skimming a bit of extra profit off the top, or just trying to break even with packaging costs).

Does this all depend on the seller? Of course it does. Doesn't mean I want to deal with it. Stores are a lot more reliable in their shipping practices--which is why I gravitate toward stores.

I've found that eBay actually has much, much better shipping pricing on import games than places like play-asia.com or the likesWhen I buy from Play-Asia, I mosey on over to CAG and swipe me a $5 discount coupon and make sure I buy at least $50 of stuff so I can use it--that brings shipping down to <$2. It's practically cheap as free! I've yet to find an eBay seller, especially one who has to ship overseas, beat that price.

Also, I can buy multiple games I want from Play-Asia--cuz it's a store. That specializes in import games. So it has more than one game I want. That means I don't have to pay $4-8 extra per game buying from separate sellers!

[edit] It are late me grammar not so good. ::tweak tweak::

Really? I had no idea that you could knock down the prices like that from there. They really need to make that fact more obvious because that's been keeping my business away from them for years. Bah, whatever. I still think the price I got Ouendan 2 and Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 for were both good.

It's all very expensive and a lot of it is out of stock, but they do have region chips disabled. Thanks for showing me it, now all I gotta do is convince my dad!
