to play gamecube games properly
you need at least

1 - 4 Gamecube Controllers
1 - 2 Gamecube Memory Cards

Sorry, no Classic Controller & no SD Card or Wii Memory.

As far as I know, third party (If that's what you mean by generic) will work, but you should go for an official anyway, third party ones are more often than not pretty awful.

the original gamecube controllers are not that uber-good as some may say.
i crushed 4 of them. so you might as well get a cheap generic one.

You crushed them? :| How on Earth did you manage that?

The "generic" Gamestop GC controller I got works about as well as the official Nintendo ones I used to own.

was that the wrong word?
i just play too much and every controller got broken somehow.

mostly the sticks. that happens all the time.

then i got one with a broken R button. that happend in F-Zero GX (beat that thing wholly)

and another one that does not work at all. (completely stopped all functionality. was afraid of my skills. ^^)

i also have burst one wiimote and one classic controller already
but i have never thrown them xD

Ah, heh, it was a bit of a misleading word. It gave me the impression that you stomped on each one of them!

Yeah, that's a curse that often befalls analogue sticks unfortunately, but I can't imagine it being any different on a third party controller. The quality does vary I guess, so if you are going to get one, make sure you've read an impression or two about it first =]

SKTTRBRUISE...are you Geoff Capes, legendary star of Geoff Capes: Strongman on the Spectrum? He could rip up 12 phonebooks and I'd imagine he's the only parrot collector in Spalding, Lincs who could crush four gamecube controllers.

I found that out 5mins after buying a classic controller.... (I probably should have kept it) Its quite hard finding that gamecube stuff lately.

Could you save GC files to an SD card if you tracked down one of those GC sd card adapters instead? I was thinking of doing that so that I could have the wii and gamecube stuff stored in the same place....

I suppose it'd be possible, but keeping moving the SD card from the Wii slot to the adapter and back could get quite annoying.

I suppose it would turn out to be annoying doing that after a while. I guess I was hoping that the wii would somehow recognise the sd card through the adapter and treat it the same as if it was in the normal slot at the front of the console

Does that adapter still work as an memory card if it doesn't have an sd card inserted? That's the only way I can see my idea working....

And another thing .. why the heck are Wavebird wireless GameCube controllers still so expensive? I don't wanna spend £25 on one!! :(

That's not quite right... You can enjoy single-player GC games with one controller just fine, of course, and I've never seen a need to have more than one memory card at a time...

At the same time, I really wish they would release an update that made GC games playable with the classic controller. It has all the necessary features, after all...

Because they're not made anymore and everyone is buying them for their Wiis. They're actually going up in price so if you want one you should buy one while they're so cheap, they could be quite rare in the future.
