View Full Version : Channel Ideas?

What would you think would be a good idea for a Channel, since Nintendo are releasing all sorts of them (TV Channel, WTF?)?
My ideas:
SD Channel
Obviously, this is one we all want, a channel that lets you play stuff off your SD Cards. Maybe once you open it, it takes you to another Channel menu with all your songs and of course, VC Games. Come on Ninty, make this happen!
VC Museum Channel
Lets you view art from all (Well, most) VC games like Boxart, Promo art etc. and hell, maybe TV ADs too. =D
So, how about you guys?

Wii Demo Channel
Name speaks for itself really...
An improved Mii Channel,
Where you can change clothing and choose from tons of outfits. Maybe downloadable outfits, hats etc. IMO the Mii channel is far too restrictive, not enough customization.

I think the whole point with the Mii channel is just to make a face; nothing else.

But I don't like the "Just make a face" thing. I would rather Miis you could make to look more like someone.

Actually, you can play the songs off your SD card during the slide show in the Photo Channel menu. But you can't fast-forward or rewind and you're either stuck playing one song on repeat or playing all of the songs.
Of course, with the latest Photo Channel update, you can't play MP3s, only AAC files...
As for playing VC games, the fact that Nintendo didn't put that sort of thing in from the get-go was just really stupid IMO especially given the small size of the hard drive and how big some of the games are.

I'm surprised Nintendo didn't already make a mii channel upgrade. Like there's a lot of hair does and smiles and mustaches and beards and stuff. Because there's only four beards. WHATS UP WITH THAT? and the miis are still a little blocky. and clothes don't really matter because most of the time on wii games you don't get the clothes you picked in the mii channel and most games just show the mii's head. But For the check me out channel, new clothes and mii faces would bring many new possibility's. But Nintendo wants you to be creative.
Weather channel upgrade. Instead of updateing the weather every 6 hours how about every hour. Because Whenever I turn on my wii, i check the weather, then do want I want to do. and in canada, you want to know what the weather is like, not what it was like 3 hours ago.
Probably some kind of a wii ware online thing.

A Nintendo 24/7 Online Channel. Just like Xbox live, with no Wii Codes! But that wn't happen on the Wii. Hopes are high for the next console though!

I dunno if this would add on to my mii channel upgrade but I think this would be cool. I was thinking nintendo should make a mii town. like on the mii channel where theres all the miis why not add a few shops and be able to move your mii. And if you have your friends mii you could talk to them kinda like a animal crossing/ sims kinda thing. and you could buy a house angel get things for your house or you could let a friend move in. And you would get money by playing games, or even by playing wii sports. I think that'd be awesome

Photo Channel ver. 1.2 - lets you play mp3s, mp4s, AND wmas, plus allows you to view photos other than just .jpg
DVD/CD channel - allows you to play all your favorite CDs and DVDs.
Sports channel - catch latest sports scores, clips, stats, news items, etc. (This is more of a wishful thinking one, as all the sports associations would have to pitch in)
Also, and enhanced Mii channel would be great.

Sports Channel is called the internet.

Sounds like the PS3's Home thing, but it would be good. Although Animal Crossing ll proberly be Ninty's answer to Home.
Hmm, maybe a MiiSpace, a Wii version of Myspace. Or even a make your own channel channel, if it can you to tools to make one. XD

An online Channel where they have these here 'Blades' that do a variety of things, But Mostly allow a Wii owner to manage his Wii account. They could call the Primary screen of it a 'Dashboard' and they could make this Channel their Primary feature of the online system, such as playing games online! They could do away with friend codes and instead get players to create accounts under psuedonyms that are usually badly capitalized/1337/Self-Agrandizing/Cliché/stupid sounding account names which don't make sense to use it. They can add in 'achievement Points' into their games and possibly even charge £4 a month for this service! They could Call it 'Wii Live'!
Sound Familiar?
No But seriously. They should make an Online Gaming Channel. On that Has Voice Chat, Achievements and NO FRIEND CODES.

The Wii's online service really is pathetic at the moment. Why couldn't they just do something like XBL (not the address books crap like in the Wii) with a proper friends list where you can see what your friends are playing and if they're online, a new headset etc.

Nintendo doesn't want the littluns to get raped by telling their address to strangers online. It's their fault. If you see one, beat him/her up.

I think we're lucky to get any sort of online service considering we're not paying a damn thing for it. I mean, we may be paying in some capacity, included in the Wii's $250 pricetag. But I would've bought it without the online functionality for the same price. Although, I do wish Nintendo would put some online service out there worth paying for. :D
Channel ideas?
How about one concerning what Ninty is up to all the time. A sort of NintendoUpdate channel. What games they're working on and stuff. I know there's the internet for that, but it's almost always from a second or third source.
Not saying I would pay for it.

O.k, my Wii channel is called the DS channel, there are 3 features...
DS Demos The DS Demos from the Everybody's Nintendo Channel can also be downloaded here, I know its pointless, but moving on...
Transfer For 500 wii points, you can download a VC game that you already have onto your DS, It doesn't work with 64 games though,(no C-stick!) when you delete the game on your DS (A.K.A, turn off the power:p) you can download it again for free
...Something? Im not sure what the 3rd feature would be, any ideas?

DVD channel would probably require an actual change in hardware.
The Wii can read DVD discs so it's just a case of not having the libraries to decode commercial films, a software update would fix this and enable DVD playback.

It's more than that, the optical drive doesn't read EXACTLY like any regular DVD drive. Think it uses a different type of red laser, and I believe the disc's spin counter-clock wise, or is it vice versa?

Consoles shouldn't be able to play DVDs and CDs, makes it really pointless of having a CD and DVD players if the consoles are:mad:

Those demos sound good--we've already seen one for the Wii, I'd love to see some for the VC & DS. I like this "Everyone Nintendo Channel" you kids are talking about.
I'd also like to see some sort of feedback system for VC downloads.
Consoles shouldn't be able to play DVDs and CDs, makes it really pointless of having a CD and DVD players if the consoles are:mad: I dunno, it never hurts to have more than one DVD/CD player--at least if you have two rooms in the house. I really hate lugging the CD player from between the bedroom and the living room, and I won't bother with a DVD player--although right now that's not a problem, since we haven't set up the second TV in the bedroom yet. It's also handy if you loan out a player to family or friends, or if one pukes out on you.
I wouldn't mind being able to put in a CD and setting up the Mii plaza while I'm playing the DS--especially if you could get the Miis to react to the music. Cuz I'm all about the cute.

This says the Wii has all the hardware required to play DVD movies as you can play them with a boot disc - you just need the right software. All Nintendo need to do is release a DVD channel - wonder why they haven't already.

Not that Wii needs the help, but I think it would have been wise for Wii to include Super Mario Brothers, and maybe even Duck Hunt, as a channel with the original package. It might help wet the customers appetite for more virtual console games. And VC is all about retro feelings. Remember how cool it was when you got that NES with those games included.
I do know some people that have bought the Wii that don't know about the VC games. Those that have bought the Wii and haven't hooked it up to the internet drive me nuts as well.

I love Shortay's idea!
As for Channel ideas, I was thinking an upgrade of the Wii Shop Channel. An upgrade that lets you download not just games, but i was thinking movies too! Now i know there's plenty of ways already to get movies (e.g. on demand, netflix, itunes, blockbuster) But just imagine it being just about everything VC games have: it's own channel, cheap price, Wii-remote acts like a DVD remote, etc. It's the only Channel idea i got.

Well memory is always a factor, it's if you want to keep the channel is the real question (in this case, yes).
