OK, just got home with my shiny copy of Pokémon Diamond.
We can use this thread to share friend codes, and infos on which monsters we need or organize battles and exchanges.
This may turn out to be a redundant discussion, but I can't keep myself from opening a Pokémon topic today!
Happy catching.

There's 3 D/P posts in the top 4 NDS posts for crying out loud. Someone wants a Shaymin, someone wants help and someone wants codes.
So...
Because you said "Sorry Neuzd" that makes me think that you posted yours after Neuzd did.
So his is now the official one and the others are getting tagged. Simple.

I can't understand all these hate for starters.
I like them all, probably Totodile is the only one that I don't feel so appealing.
I say this because I read several times of people disliking the starters from the 3rd and 4th generation.
Anyway for eveyone who just began their game and is doubtful of which starter to get, here is a super simple solution (it's unlikely that you didn't already figured it out, but for those who didn't thought about it, this is a nice hint):
Have a friend nearby.
Start a game and reach the first town with a Pokémon Center, play until you catch another Pokémon.
Trade your starter with a Pokémon your friend doesn't need.
Turn off your DS and delete the game (very important, because if you just start a new game, you won't be able to save).
Start a new game, choose a different starter and repeat all the sequence.
Repeat until your friends have the required amount of starters you (and your friend...) want.
I know this is a very old trick, but maybe someone may not have realized it. It takes some time, but it's just 15 minutes long to the first town, so in an hour or so, you may be able to have all the starters.

You need the GBA games.
The real problem now is that the transfers are one way only.
So if you're going to transfer your precious Mew from a GBA cart to the DS, you won't be able to get it back.
I thought that this could be the right time to exploit an infamous Emerald glitch: porting a clone to the DS and then freeing it (I'm gonna do this way: just for Pokédex entry).

I'm not buying D/P then. GAME have it on offer when you trade in MK that you get either for £10, and we have 3 MK's and no one ever plays them.
So I was gonna get it. But now, nope. Because i've done further research and a few of my favourites including my favourite and team captain, isn't on the game without the GBA carts.

Where would the fun be, then?
I like trading monsters and getting organized with my friends to complete everyone's dex.
Even more, I think the version differences (in Pokémon encounters) are too thin, and I would like that Pokémon exclusive to one version, to be new ones. But no, mostly old gen monsters fall in this category: I don't care about them, I'll have them when I plug my GBA carts.
I also have bought just one version of every game, so I'm not that PokéNerd.
Anyway, 'trading' is the most important aspect of this line of games, it has been like this from the beginning, and also the trade of different things, like 'informations': how many games have you seen with so many hidden features?
Oh, and for the price of the game: from GameStop/EBGames preordering the game and bringing them 2 DS games(Nintendogs, Hotel Dusk), let me purchase Diamond with just 1€.
[EDIT after Mendez post: yeah, now that we can get online, completing the Dex is way easier]

Over the years, I've looked at this series with much skepticism. That said, I've been pondering whether I should finally give it a try, especially now that one is able to trade globally.

Zubat lv. 10
Geodude managed to take out the Onix alone :P

A water or grass Pokémon would have helped a lot.
I think you got the most inappropriated team ever for that gym.
Why fire, poison and electro pokémon? You got a lot of weaknesses and your best moves are uneffective.
You should have trained a grass or water pokémon. Ok, you got Chimchar, but there are at least grass monsters to be cought in the way to the first gym.

I was thinking to delay this message for when the times are mature, but I'm a bit excited so I can't keep this secret for long.
A friend of mine found his starter Piplup to be FEMALE.
This is one very lucky event, chances of having a female starter are very small, this was hardcoded by Nintendo to push the trading aspect of the game.
So, if anyone is in need of Piplup and his line of evolution, we can get as many as we want.
We both need to get to the breeding center though (well, I'm behind the corner, he's still far), so it isn't something we can do right now, but well, keep this in mind and PM me to order your very own Piplup.

I started with the 3rd generation, and I can't figure how previous game scould be better.....
Yes it's always the same super simple game. But, as I said yesterday about Metroid, I feel Pokémon games are more like a TOY than a game.
In fact I feel I'm starting playing Pokémon when THE END flashes on screen...well anyone thinks that way, if you go on GameFAQs every Pokémon walkthrough tells you, that if you didn't beat the game, you aren't really playing Pokémon...
In my eyes Pokémon has always gone better:
R/S < FR-LG < EMERALD < D/P

I don't remember why I find them better...
Maybe I found Gold & Silver better than the gba games because they were a big improvement over the original red & blue. It introduced the day & night system, had those alphabet pokemon (unown?) puzzles, it let you return to Kanto after beating the game to get more badges and it also let you fight Ash(Red) from the older games...
I was disappointed most of that stuff was missing from the GBA games.
(I guess I just want someone to give me a reason that getting D/P is going be worth the hassle I'm gonna get from my friends if they find out...)

I really don't know. But since there's no regional locking nor on the DS or on the GBA, and we all know this latest versions of Pokémon games link with everyone else in the world, I would be surprised if it wouldn't work. (EDIT: though your source about GBA games not working if different regional versions are linked, is correct).
Anyway this means that Diamond is your first Pokémon adventure, do you really find difficult to spot a copy of the GBA games?
I think I can find both new (easier) and pre-owned copies of every episode.
Let me know, eventually in a couple of hours I'll be at a GameStop store (I'm not staying without wii-points when Samus blinks her eye, just around the corner...) and search with more attention.
Problem is the prices, I had to buy an unboxed(!) Metroid: Zero Mission for 24€......gosh. But later I also found a Mertroid: Fusion for a more fair 9€.
It's more a matter of patience and luck combined together...
Hpoe you don't get too bored, if you manage to play all games together: they're all quite the very same game.....(and I was not considering that Emerald IS the same game as R/S).

I managed to finally pick up a copy of Diamond on Sat and have been playing it mainly on the train to and from work. Grand stuff!
I'm looking forward to sending my GBA pokes over to it once I'm done in preparation for PBR... but only once I've built up the best part of a second full Dex, which I'm pretty far from.
I love the Pokemon games, but it comes in phases. I play the Gamecube games and the GBA games for months on end, and then all of a sudden I'll just drop the lot and focus on other games. Then several months later I'll randomly get the itch to play again and BANG! I'm fully devoted again.
Being an adult Pokefan, I've never traded with anyone but myself as I have all 5 GBA games and know no-one else who play it, so the global trading and battling really appeals to me. I'm even planning a trip to Croydon at the end of the month to get me a few Mews.
The only thing that makes me wary is all the clones and hacked pokemon floating around out there. I really don't want to end up with a duff Pokemon!

Got Dialga!
Be prepared for this section of the game, you're supposed to go past a difficult section and then the battle with the legendary, all in a row.
1)There's a double battle with Galaxy commanders(your friend/rival will team up with you and heal your pokes after the battle).
2)The battle with the Boss of the bad guys.
3)And then the legendary.
You can't go anywhere but battle the monster, so you must get there with enough revives, high potions, and a lot of pokéballs.
Well, the legendary battle turned out fair easy, and it let himself got cought after just few tries. But I was really worried 'cause I was getting short of everything...
Legendaries are going to show up now, there's already the Psychic trio to be caught.

When does that happen?(I think I might be there now) Should I save the master ball for something else?
Definetely do not use your master ball with Dialga/Palkia.
They have a catch rate of 30 against all other Legendaries which is 3.
So, this battle is after a difficult section but they made the legendary easier to catch.
Anyway every Pokémon can be catched with a standard ball, I never use Master Balls and keep them as a trophy.
Do as you wish, there is only 1 Master Ball (you can win more at the lottery at the TV station, but that would be just super luck), and plenty of legendaries....maybe you can use it for the 2 roaming Pokémon (which I can't find who are....later I'll update this), or Regigigas wich I read is a very difficult battle.
Anyway, if you have the Master Ball, it should be time for you to head to Mt Coronet and meet Dialga/Palkia. Buy everything before entering and once on the top be prepared.

Does anyone know how the forms of burmy work? Or if it's only a matter of luck to find the various forms.
I can't find Sandy Cloak and Trash Cloak forms. I need them for the Macho Brace! (Yes, I did EV train my Dialga without it!)

Is there anyway to play this game online without wireless internet connection?
I beat the elite 4 and captured all the legenderies you can fight without needing to go to events about a month ago, so I have nothing left to do now other then try to catch all the pokemon which Im to lazy to do and battle/trade online, so i havnt played the game for about a couple of weeks.
So is there any way to get online other then wireless connection such as hooking up my wii with the LAN adapter and then connecting with the DS somehow?

....before getting the Wii I was sure this thing would have worked. But no, no way, you need a Wireless router or a WiFi USB pen.
As I know how the Wii and its remote, the DS and the pen work (all bluetooth), I think it should work with the only effort of writing a host application for the Wii.
Let's see what happens when (if...) they release a DS channel (demos?).

I'm starting to get really annoyed at the elite 4....I keep losing to Flint!
At least I just found my first shiny pokemon while training....but its a golbat.... yay!(?)
Turns out I got lucky with my starter.... with a F. empoleon I can just make loads of piplup and get almost any pokemon on the gts for them... really kind of awkward that you have to have seen the originals before asking for them...(how have all those people seen mew?everyone asks for it)

Since no one answered my request for help, and I just found out the solution, I thought I can share my discoveries with you.
Thanks to the ever satisfying Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burmy) that explains in details what is needed; I can't understand why all those Pokémon fansites and FAQs I checked out didn't explain this...
Obtaining the 3 forms of Burmy is simple enough.
It just changes its coat depending on the last place (environment) it battled in.
Leaf: battling on grass
Sand: battling in caves
Trash: battling in buildings
The change takes effect after the battle is over.
Bring three differently cloaked Burmys to the guy in Pastoria City to obtain the priceless Macho Brace.
Anyway, I'm stuck at those annoying Psychic couple (Mesprit has run away).
Azelf and Uxie just don't want to stay in the Pokéballs. They're the only two missing in my dex. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
[EDIT: A little update]
I got both Azelf and Uxie. I didn't use any different strategy from my previous attempts, but today I caught both in no time.
Mah....just lucky, anyway, time for Rayquaza to come to Sinnoh!!

Is your team at level 60 or higher? I plowed through the elite 4 at 60. Lucian gave me the most trouble. My suggestion for usage of the master ball is Heatran. I used it on Cresellia and when I got to Heatran and got his HP close to dead as you could get it took a ton of poke balls to catch him. Save it for him, you won't regret it!

Thanks for helping but I managed to do it a few days ago...it turned out that I really needed to have a pokemon who knows icebeam. switching graveler for a gengar helped too!
Is heatran a fleeing legendary too? 'cause I was seriously considering using the masterball next time I find mesprit....
I've also managed to get the national dex now....how many is it possible to collect relying on gts and without access to the gba games? If its not many I might as well call it a day and wait for a wii version of pokemon (that has the rpg mode)

GTS completation help: almost total. Just be realistic and don't hope to easily find a Celebi.
The only 2 roaming Pokémon are Mesprit and Cresselia.
As I said, someone found useful to use the Master Ball on Regigigas, while Kevin hints to use it on Heatran.
I had endless battles with the 2 Psychic Legends, but then as I already wrote the day after I got both of them super easily.
Another strange catch report:
Sapphire, Sky Pillar, Rayquaza battle.
I was battling the serpent. and I was getting very tired because it was already a lot of time that I was there and I was getting short of Pokéballs.
I'm stuck. I finished all the PP for my NON-attack moves asnd I can't risk to hit Rayqaza because it will surely faint, my moves are too powerful and I can't manage to take its HP low enough.
OK, I'll waste a Pokéball....I just need to get to the next turn.
Rayquaza uses FLY and he goes up in the air.
And then the magic happened.
Rayquaza HPs were high enough to let me think he would have exited the ball.
It used FLY.
The Pokéball was a regular one.
Yes, I did catch Rayquaza in this occasion, the regular Pokéball being the most satisfactory element about it, and fortunately I can show it!
So, all this "blahing" is just to confirm that EVERY Pokémon can be catched with the regular Balls. Have faith!

The truth is I couldn't fight Regigigas before Heatran because I was missing Registeel and Regirock. I finally migrated them a few days ago and caught Regigigas after using a TON of balls. Extremely hard to catch. Heatran is probably just as bad. All in all from personal experience and posts I've read in other forums, Regigigas and Heatran in my opinion are the prime candidates to use the master ball on.
