Big N is giving Samus the loving treatment she deserves this month, with all of August being redubbed the "Month of Metroid." First off, there's a new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Metroid%20Prime%203%3A%20Corruption">Metroid Prime 3: Corruption</a></em> preview channel on your Wii, where you can see some trailers for the game as well as gameplay videos. You can find that in Wii Ware, for all your promotional needs. That said, if you're the sort of Wii owner who hasn't bought a game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/09/new-games-this-week-super-paper-mario-edition/">since April</a> (read: most of you) then you're probably not going to need much convincing.<br /> <br />This month will also bring the long-awaited Virtual Console releases of <em>Metroid</em> (for 500 points) on August 13 and <em>Super Metroid </em>(800 points), considered by some to be the greatest game of all time, on August 20. As you've probably already guessed, this is all leading up the the reason for the season: The release of <em>Metroid Prime 3: Corruption </em>on August 27. Now go, little one. Hang your ice beam over the fire and try once again to get your lady friend to put on the armor you bought her as you insist that it's part of the holiday spirit.<h6 style="clear: both; padding: 8px 0 0 0; height: 2px; font-size: 1px; border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0;"></h6><a href="http://wii.joystiq.com/2007/08/10/august-brings-metroid-and-super-metroid-to-virtual-console/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent link to this entry">Permalink</a>&nbsp;|&nbsp;<a href="http://wii.joystiq.com/forward/962332/" title="Send this entry to a friend via email">Email this</a>&nbsp;|&nbsp;<a href="http://wii.joystiq.com/2007/08/10/august-brings-metroid-and-super-metroid-to-virtual-console/#comments" title="View reader comments on this entry">Comments</a><br /><p><font size="1"><hr>SPONSORED BY: <a href="http://clk.atdmt.com/DEI/go/wblgsxbx0080000528dei/direct/01/">Age of Empires III - Real-Time Strategy Game</a> Control a European power on a quest to colonize and conquer the New World. <a href="http://clk.atdmt.com/DEI/go/wblgsxbx0080000528dei/direct/01/">AOE3</A> introduces new gameplay elements, as well as new civilizations, units, and technologies. <a href="http://clk.atdmt.com/DEI/go/wblgsxbx0080000528dei/direct/01/">http://www.ageofempires3.com/</a></font></p>

It's available now only on American Wii's at the moment.

Europe will probably get it in October

I love Ninty, they're so fair :D

Sony have region free. MS have short game wait lists and simaltanious XBL launches. And Ninty have millions of Europeans to **** on.

They're by far the worst company. Barely any online support. Tons of exclusives (But only for Japan).

Crap translators who seem to only work every other weekend. Because afterall, why should they hurry to translate a game into the EU's main languages? The EU clearly doesn't mind waiting upto 2 years for a game (BOF II's original SNES launch. Excitebike 64 etc...).

And now they're charging £40 for games that are beatable inside 5 hours and they have no replayabillity or real multiplayer modes (Excite Truck, Warioware Wii, etc...).

They're like a piece of rotting Beef, the older it gets, the worse it is.

Yeah but Nintendo do have the best games! C'mon show some love for the big N!

Nintendo of Europe have been awful since day one! Ever seen the Super Nintendo I have imported my Nintendo consoles for 60Hz goodness. Metroid Corruption only costs like £27 delivered from dvdboxoffice as well, a instant win!

I do think NOE could learn quite a lot from Microsoft's attitude to Europe. They've really impressed me with the 360.

If you are bashing Nintendo then don't use Sony as an example. Region free the PS3 may be but Sony will do everything in their power to stop you importing. Also what was the deal with the release date for the PS3? How many months after the US did we get it? The Wii was like 3 weeks delay! :p

They don't care about game imports, it was the console because it was so cheap abroad. They've just opened up there servers too, so that people like myself can play the U.S games (Like Warhawk which has a £40 saving when bought from the states. And Motorstorm, Resistence etc...) online in the U.K.

The wait for the console was because the EU machines had flaws that needed fixing. But even then, waiting for a machine isn't as bad as waiting for every single game released on it.

Plus, it may have have only been a 3 week wait for some, but they made so few consoles for such a high demand, people have been waitings months to get one (No idea why. Must be VC addicts as there's stuff all out for the damn thing).

I wish Ninty did still have the best games, but clearly they don't. They're ruining every game except Metroid, which they're now fixing (Better controls).

Ninty's NES, SNES and N64 are phenominal machines that can slaughter almost any other console in gameplay.

But the NGC was terrible. And ATM the Wii's only saving grace is the truly spectactular VC, which allow those amazing NES, SNES and N64 games to be downloaded.

If it weren't for the VC, I wouldn't have a Wii. But it's all opinions, s
