Drugs and lots of coffee, usually.

Life is a hard game.
And it's a BAD one. I agree: cheating in bad games is fair!

I have to chime in on the love.
The VC archive has become a frequent visit of mine. You've set things up really accessible and userfriendly. Keep it up and you'll have a constant supporter in me.

How do you always have a review on release? What if you've never played one of the games before?

Infinite helper monkeys, most likely. Either that, or infinite wisdom. Something infinite, in any case.

yeah guys have to say well done couldnt ask for a better vc site!
its certainly better than scrabbling around on other sites for tidbits of info!
i know this might be asking too much, but how bout a video section? even just a few seconds of footage from each game would be a massive help in getting an idea of what your downloading?
maybe a monthly five minute video with ten seconds of each game?

Unless of course they owned a crystal ball... /obvious joke/
Anyway, really nice idea. They could copy the videos from youtube or google videos or game videos or game trailers or wiitube or... I can go on and on!

I suppose you could technically just embed YouTube videos into the entries... It wouldn't surprise me if every single game on the VC was available on YouTube.
As for those expiring etc. I haven't got a constructive suggestion.
How would you capture a video from a VC game? I'd be interested to know. (Aside from pointing a camera at your TV, I mean  )

Embedding youtube vids is easy enough to do, but it's not something we're thinking of doing for the moment. We'd like to keep the page layout as simple as possible.

You could always go here (http://wii.nintendo.com/virtualconsole.jsp) for that. Click on a game and there is a video of it in its page.

Yeah, the site is well put together and I look forward to your reviews every monday morning on the newest VC releases. Not one of them has stirred me wrong thus far on picking out games that interest me that I've never played before. Keep it up!

Nah, scores and reviews are based on the reviews that were in the Mean Machines magazine years ago, failing that, they use old Nintendo magazines (not exactly correct, but near enough).

I'll answer this Tennant LOL
We'd need to be rich to buy every VC game. We realise that getting reviews out there two weeks later isn't that helpful to readers so *shock, horror* we play the games using naughty PC emulation to help write our reviews. This doesn't help us to technically comment too much on any quirks on the VC emulation but we can always add onto the reviews to fill people in (like in the case of Mario Kart 64 having no ghost saves) - thankfully our readers are usually quick to point out any oddities we may not have picked up on.
9 times out of 10 Damo or I have played these games during our mispent childhoods anyway so we just refresh our memories with the emulators. If it's something totally random one of us just tries to get a bit of time in playing it one evening to help write the review.
Mean Machines does help sometimes as Tennant says but we don't rely totally on their reviews as time just hasn't been so kind to all games (compare our review of TMNT to the score MM gave it for instance!)
The VC is still a brilliant service so we do download loads of games still. Nothing can beat playing on the TV with a decent controller. It's all so easy to pick up and play with the Wii interface also. It's really the best way to play these games now especially N64.
So there you go fact fans 8)

I would say "Nay" to embedded videos. I like the neatness of the layout as is, and gameplay videos are easy enough to find elsewhere.

Yep, U traded in my GBA SNES games. Because I knew i'd get more money that it'd cost for me to get em back, and I knew i'd have them on the big screen 8)
Although Mario World GBA was better IMO. I hate having "A" as screw attack. I can't remeber it being that awkward back on the SNES.
I personally wish you could do custom controls for all games. Only a few need it to be fair. Lylat is in desperate need of it.

I have. Chew Man Fu. I had to settle with a T.V ad trailer from Japan for the mobile phone version.
