I REALLY hope so. I figure since Brawl is on the horizon, the first game has a great chance of coming to the VC very soon. Smash Bros. was one of my all time favorite games!

A few days ago, I read somewhere (sorry, don't remember where :() that SSB was indeed coming for the VC soon. It will be like Super Metroid-Metroid Prime 3 or Super Mario Bros 3-Mario Galaxy.

I also heard about that. Since Prime 3 had it's little "Metroid Month" thing and SMB3 a week or so before Galaxy, it makes sense.

March 9 can't come any quicker. They'd better offer up SSB on VC for making us wait an eternity for Brawl.

Makes sence, however I believe the Wii game has some SNES tracks apparently...

Hopefully they'll release the original SSB earlier to make up for the latest delay of Brawl.

Sadly Smash bros for me is one of the series that you only play the lastest one and going back to older ones feels strange/out dated.
I'd happily playing mario bros 3 in between mario galaxy plays but with smash bros brawl im unlikely to ever go back to melee nevermind the original which IMO was no-where near Melees perfection

Makes sense[...]
...in the US.
I already said this: it's a cheap strategy, it simply can't work in Europe.
We're consumers too, but still not slaves of the market.
It has not be done with Metroid and it will not be done with Smash Bros and Mario Kart.
We Europeans know that 2 of the same in the same day is plain idiot.
Nintendo knows this, they may like torturing us, but they have the dignity to let us feel we're still on the right side of the ocean.

Or like

I think SSB is going to be the next N64 game after Kirby 64.

I don't see why not, but I also don't know why everyone wants this. Melee and Brawl have everything the original had times ten.

It ll keep the Europeans going till its released at least. XD

I hope both SSB and SMK are released soon. That way I would be able to play all the games in both serials on my wii, well except MKDS and MKSC or whatever the GBA one was

At this point, I really doubt they're going to put much priority on SSB in North America. It wouldn't make any sense. It would almost make sense to release it in Europe before Brawl, and then hold it back from North America for a catch-up week, but if the NA Brawl release was any precedent, then I doubt Europe will get it too.
I do think we should get Super Mario Kart within the next few weeks, unless they (for some reason) decide to follow the same strategy they did with Brawl.

With the way the VC has been going I'd say we'd be lucky if we get Smash Bros. by the end of this year.

Won't be long before the April Japanese Release List, so it ll shed a lot of answers (Like will Wiiware interfer with the releases even more and whats the next N64 game, if any.)

I don't think "the way the VC has been going" will have anything to do with it. It'd just be an odd business choice to release SSB when so many people have a significantly better version of it (especially with all of the news media and video game journalists biting into SSB's potential sales by saying that SSBB offers little else than a tweak of SSB's successful formula).
