I never really liked AC but if it was an MMO it would ROCK! Only a rumor though :(

So long as it has Mii support and lets you where a monocle and a top hat, I'm in! Hate MMOs though.

Edit: So it's not going to be an MMO? Yes! Now I can have all the Monocles and top hats all to myself. Hahaha!!

Come to think of it, if nintendo does reclame it as an MMO I'm sure there would be an offline mode as well.

It won't be an MMO, Nintendo is too conservative a company to do something like that.

Yeah I guess your right but its never to late to hope, till the release no one knows MMO or not, its all a matter of waiting.

I hate MMOs... but I also hate Animal Crossing, so this puppy is a lose-lose for me.

Mickeymac
13th July 2008, 09:39 PM
I was suprised how much I loved Animal Crossing, since it's pretty much the exact opposite that I look for in a game. I never liked MMOs, and while I would like the ability to got to a friends game via WiFi, I wouldn't like the having to go through a million other games just to do it.

Mickeymac
14th July 2008, 07:24 AM
I normally wouldn't say this, but all I'm looking for in the latest Animal Crossing is more of the same, sure different is usually better - part of why the Gamecube was my favorite console was because Nintendo was actually mixing things with its established franchises. Animal Crossing, on the otherhand, has a very distinct formula - one of which manages to take something I hate(The Sims) and turns it into something I love, and I fear any change in this formula will ruin it.

Who knows, maybe Nintendo will be able to apply that formula to MMOs, and once again perform miracles - actually making me love an MMO.

Guess we may never find since it's not going to be an MMO. You really can't take Nintendo rumors seriously, because, like I said, they're too conservative!

That and Ninty likes suprises, and don't let thier secrets out.

Dont look for an MMO to come out on the Wii. Be happy you hate them and hope it stays that way.

Im a big MMO fan. Its not something you wanna get into. It really is like a drug. They called it EverCrack for a reason.

Winners dont do MMO's!

Sorry for the off topic. I just feel i need to let people know about the dangers.:lolo:

Mickeymac
14th July 2008, 04:15 PM
Actually, I'm quite aware of the danger, and it's always in the back of my mind, scratching at my brain everytime the issue of MMOs come up. The only thing is, they don't work on me, especially MMORPGs. I was never a fan of RPGs, but MMOs take all that and multiply it tenfold, while giving me new things to hate. All the wandering around, level-grinding, and Item-hunting, while annoying in RPGs, are downright unbearable in an MMO, and it loses my attention pretty fast. The only thing that seems to draw people is the "social interaction", but I've honestly never been quite into that sort of thing. Sure, I go to these forums, but that's nothing more than placing my thoughts, and the only response is your thoughts on my thoughts that give me more info, and more things to think about. I've never liked chatrooms, and basically an MMO is a chatroom with some cheap game going on in the backround.

It's just that this time(If I'm wrong) that game going on in the backround is Animal Crossing, and if enough of the old Animal Crossing is left in this new iteration, it could quite possibly do what no MMO has done before, and actually suck my in.

Oh thats right. Yea I guess I have heard that before. I have never tried any of the world of warcraft style games but I remember one of my buds dropping the MMO phrase. I get it now thanks.

Okay, so news from E3 has started to come in, and so far, nothing on Animal Crossing Wii, no word on Wii MMOs, and definately no word on Top hats and Monocles.

Harray, the live feed just came in, and they finally announced Animal Crossing Wii! And it's not an MMO!! There is Mii support, and a city you can go to that seems more an extension of the town than a dramatic improvement, but it's still a nice inclusion. Plus, it's coming with a new Mic. Hooray voice-support(also a previously stated rumor)!

No, I was watching the live feed from the Nintendo website, and they said it was going to be a pack-in with the game.

I could still be wrong, like they changed their minds or something, but last I heard ACWii and WiiSpeak are being shipped and sold together.

Jogurt the Yogurt

I'm sure it'll be a pack-in with the game that you can also buy separately, like the Mario Kart / Wii Wheel.

I hate to admit it, but you're right, but then again, the game would cost $80 dollars if it was a pack-in, and it's not necessary in order to play the game, so maybe it's just the opposite(or at least a lesser of two evils).

Edit: Heard an Interview with Miyamoto, and yah, it's the cost that's the reason the Mic isn't included. Appearantly, you can use a USB Keyboard if you want. Want a link? (http://stars.ign.com/dor/objects/919353/shigeru-miyamoto/videos/miyamotointerview_071508.html)

Edit again: I'm going crazy with these links! (http://wii.ign.com/articles/891/891149p1.html) That ones another interview, only this time it's with the guys working on the game, and you'll have to grab you're granny glasses, and flex those sore eye muscles folks, no video this time.

Same here, I don't have anyone to talk to anyways, and I don't think my brother has any friends interested in Animal Crossing. However, chances are other games are going to make use of the Mic, and some of them might actually be good!

Well think of it this way, did any 360 game come with the headset? I don't see how it's any different with wii. I don't care too much, as I'll most likely only have one friend who rarely goes on. Good thing you can visit other towns without your friends being online.

Uhh, a headset for the 360 comes with the console.
And with the PS3, it came with Warhawk.

So yes, Nintendo is the only publisher to make you buy a headset separately.
Although it's not even a headset...
