I've only ever played the Megadrive Alex Kidd which is awful, what are the Master System ones like?

Ive heard they are better. The megadrive one does suck bad.

Also so you know Alex Kidd is set to return in Sega Superstars Tennis.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World is rather quite good, which is just as well considering it was built in to the Master System II (and likely the new owner’s first impression). There are some tricky sections that might frustrate, like jumping onto single blocks of platforms above a sea of spikes, but no more than other games can.

Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is considered the best in the series and IMHO it is a great little platformer, think Alex Kidd characters with Shinobi-ish style gameplay. I can’t say for the others as I don’t have them and have never played them.

Much better, Alex Kidd in Miracle World is one of the best pre-Sonic platformers there are, it's an essential download if you haven't already got it. Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is also very good. The others are average, and I agree that the Mega Drive version isn't great.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World is a classic game but be warned, it is difficult.

I think I played that one. I believe I only git past the first level and couldn't get further

I had Miracle World built in to my SMS2, and I borrowed Shinobi World off a friend, and both were rather fun. I could never get past the level with the thundercloud dropping lightning bolts though. I hated the Megadrive version, it just seemed far far too japanese

Miracle World is an excellent game with lots of variety, only marred by slightly floaty control but nothing you cant get used to. It's very challenging too.

Shinobi World is another good one, sort of a cutesy remake of the original Shinobi game but with new level design and new moves.

The other games are utter tosh.

Miracle World is a strong platformer with a varied set of levels and gameplay styles and a very tough difficulty level. I personally prefer it to the NES Marios.

Shinobi World is superb. It's a really playable home version of Shinobi, with bright cutesy graphics and excellent level design. One of my favourite Master System games.

I wouldn't say it's considered the best in the series. That title goes to the first one, Alex Kidd in Miracle World. Regardless though, I think Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is a gem. It's more or less a direct remake of the first Shinobi game (Arcade, SMS) but with Alex Kidd as the protagonist and cute versions of all the enemies.

In comparison, it reminds me of Virtua Fighter Kids (SAT), which was a dumbed down version of Virtua Fighter (ARCADE, SAT).

Shinobi World goes down as one of, if not, the only time two Sega franchises were meshed into one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I used to play Alex Kidd when i was young and I can safely say, its a forgotten class in terms of sega. It borrows from other platformers of course but its stil great fun, great music and just full of character. Personally I can not wait for it to re-appear in my collection.
