If it comes out, Rocket Knight Adventures.

Brilliant game by Konami, although it's criminally under-known. Get it, love it.

Sadly, Konami doesn't seem to be releasing MegaDrive games for the VC. I hope they start soon, because RKA really is a great game.

Back in the 16 bit wars, The Mega Drive had three things going for it:

1. BLAST PROCESSING! Yeah, It was cool and fast. It had Sonic, The Cool mascot, the fastest mascot there is. And that was cool and fast.

2. They weren't Censor-Nazis. Nintendo took The super gruesome fatalities from their version of Mortal Kombat, But Sega's was pretty intact. It had Blood! Instead of the grey 'sweat' which Nintendo's version had.

3. The sports games were clearly better. Madden, Fifa and NBA games were much better on the Mega Drive then on the SNES according to public opinion.

Because Blast Processing was pretty much a feign - a buzz-word used by Sega, It isn't very useful today.

Motal Kombat was really cool back then because its real draw was its gore. Now that people have severely pushed that limit (Rockstar) gamers are sorta used to gore. Least I am.

I don't think the sports games would be put on because of all the naming rights. But if they were, It'd be cool. Just look at Tecmo Bowl.

But there are still quite a lot of great games. Sonic... Tazz... and so many more.

I have Sonic 1, Because I had it on my MD. But I hear Sonic is Much better. The Streets of Rage series is excellent, great 2 player. Ristar is good. But I got bored of it quite quickly, but that might be because I downloaded Bonk's Adventure AND the Original Legend of Zelda that same day.

I'd reccomend Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes or Sonic 2/3.

As many have said already, Sonic 2 or Streets of Rage 2.

An excellent game, that. I hope we do see it.

Yep. Pretty much all of the EA Sports games were better on MD than SNES. NBA Jam was better on SNES though.

For games that are currently out there: Sonic 2

But I'd say my pick for the best Genesis game goes to Vectorman. I hear those lucky ducks across the pond already got it and are probably gloating whilst quoting Vectorman's "Right On!"

Or not, because it runs incredibly slow over here, music included.

Really? How come the Wii can't handle a little old 16 bit game? That's disconscerning...

It's more of the PAL encoding or whatever.

I don't really know cuz I'm Uh-Mare-Eeh-KAAAAAAAAAAAHN!

that makes sense. I heard the NTSC Mario Kart 64 runs faster than the PAL version, too.

Nearly every US VC game runs better than the PAL ones.

:sleepy: <----------- This guy.

I don't know who he is, I'm just blaming him because he can't argue. :p

Now then, the Megadrive game I would download which is currently on the VC would be Gunstar Heroes.

Assuming I could choose from all Megadrive games though, I would choose Contra: Hard Corps. (I love Contra. :D )

It's no-one's fault.

Most game developers made the games in Japan or USA (both TV standard NTSC)..
The decision was: Get Nintendo and Sega's systems and games to Europe and Australia ... or should they stay with Atari only?

So there were two little markets with TV standard PAL. (EU and Australia)
NOTE: PAL screens are bigger, they have more horizontal lines. And US/JP games looked like 16:9 on our TV's.

Nintendo and Sega said: Yeah, these horizontal lines are speeding down the processor of our SNES and MegaDrive... the framerate is dropping because there's nearly 35% more horizontal lines... we haven't made our system, our games for such big screens. The SNES and Mega Drive versions of games run slower because they're optimized for NTSC TV's damnit! You should be damn lucky to play our games. We even began to translate them in the early 90ies.
We even began to kill the black borders in the mid 90ies. And now we're trying to bring back the old games in their old slow black/blue-bordered PAL-fashion, to relive the nostalgia of the EU and AU market to the fullest!

BTW: This guy :sleepy: is a villain from Adventures of Lolo.

Get Pier Solar and the Great Architects. Actually... that game will never come out for the VC. It is still in development! Isn't it awesome a select few are still making Genesis games? Anyway, I don't have much Sega knowledge so I'd have to say Sonic 2 or 3.

This is a case of me just reading the topic title. I know it's probably "what I should buy on the megadrive VC" but Rocketknight Advnetures. Go on. Go go! Don't let me keep you.

Uh Alien Soldier and Gunstar Heroes if you haven't already.

I thought that we were just sharing what our favorite Mega Drive game is!
Anyway if you like Dynamite Headdy get Ristar
