Default Anyone know where to get retro music from?

Just all sorts of retro gaming tracks. Anyone have any legal ways to get them?

Either a shop that sells CD's or a place that allows you to DL them?

I was actually wondering this too. I'd love to download (legally, of course) the Ocarina, retro Mario etc. tracks, but I don't know where to get them.

For the more popular series like Zelda, you should be able to find official soundtracks in almost any online CD store with a big selection (here is Ocarina from Amazon). Lesser known stuff will of course be more difficult (if not impossible) to find through legal means.

A lot of soundtrack CDs are unavailable outside of Japan and importing is the only option.

I buy soundtrack CDs from http://www.yesasia.com and http://www.play-asia.com but there isn't a huge range of retro game soundtracks. Sometimes though, companies release compilations of retro game music which are almost exclusively Japan-only but usually available from those sites. Beyond that there's always ebay.

I think this is legal...I'm not sure. You can take it off if you want, just don't slap me with a piracy warning.

There's anime, too. Most old games can be found in the MIDI section.

A pretty big compendium of video game MIDIs. I can't really help you on official mp3s, but there is a lot of great music there.

ocremix.org
Always a wonderful place with tons of great remixes and a very professional community. All free. There is great stuff to be found here.

Well, there's OverClocked Remix, which, as the name suggests, is more into remixes than original tracks from the games. I also recently discovered Galbadia Hotel, which seems to have a lot of original game rip mp3s for download. It's a bit of a slow interface though; in order to download a whole album rather than each individual track, you have to register.
