Read and rejoice.

"it's Nintendo's decision."

As the article said the answer is ambiguous. "As for Virtual Console, it's ultimately Nintendo's decision what gets released." This doesn't neccesarily mean that any Rare game can be released, just that it's Nintendo's decision out of the ones that can be released.

Read the article next time, Mr. Know-it-All.

They were responding to the question about Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie.

RARE IPs.

Not only the Donkey Kong titles.

Cool news. I've decided just to set my N64 back up though. I had most of those games for it anyway and honestly the N64 titles take up too much room on my channels array. I'd rather my Wii stand in as my SNES.

Does this mean that Nintendo would NOT have to settle any right isssues with Activision or Rare concerning Goldeneye?

This is great news, and I can't wait to play old favorites as well as missed classics.

Hey, I only said what I thought, I could be wrong! I did read the article, and the letters page itself as well.

Rare's letters page is famous for never giving out any "real" information. The questions and answers are usually intentionally comical, and occasionally give out ambiguous answers to questions to raise speculation that never comes to anything, it's almost never used for actual announcements.

The exact question was: "Will you ever strike a deal to allow games like Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark to be released on the Wii's Virtual Console in exchange for something like allowing them to be sold on Xbox Live Arcade?"

The answer was (copied exactly): "As for VC, it's ultimately Nintendo's decision what gets released. Beyond the DKC games we don't have anything in the pipeline at the moment, but that doesn't mean it won't happen in future. OMG CORPERATE ANSER#!1"

Yes, including the last part, that was part of the answer. It doesn't neccesarily refer to perfect dark and it's completely ambiguous, in classic Rare style. I'd love it to be true but I think it should be taken with a pinch of salt.
