Oh, I would never say that Nintendo can't emulate add-on hardware for the VC. I'm just saying the fact that they haven't done it yet for certain formats is kind of conspicuous. If you make a list of the top-tier SNES games - not necessarily the best, but the greatest hits, the ones with huge name recognition, that are part of longstanding Nintendo franchises, that are guaranteed to sell on the VC - you start to notice that we've already gotten most of them, unless they use the SFX chip. No Starfox, no Super Mario World 2. There's got to be a reason for that.
My guess is that it could be done, and it probably will eventually, but it's extra work that just happens to be super-low on their list of priorities. |
