Chrono Cross wasn't made in the same way as Chrono Trigger. It is still a really great game, but much more its own game than a sequel to Chrono Trigger. Though it does have many connections to Chrono Trigger, you just have to search for them.

The main problem with Chrono Cross is it seems to have had development time and money taken away by Xenogears and Final Fantasy VIII, which people from both teams were working on CHrono Cross together. Still, realizing this, Chrono Cross actually turned out to be an amazing game... Its just sort of an incomplete game.

But to make it 'complete' would take far more than say what SquareEnix has done with any Final Fantasy remake or even FFT on PSP. To get Chrono Cross to be presented as it should have been, with its full story and present itself in the way it was trying to back on the PSX, but 'complete', it would take a XBOX360 or PS3 remake and basically making a whole new game. Adding entire new sections of story connecting to the Radical Dreamers Text-Based RPG and explaining how about half the characters fit into the world. A monumental task by any development standards. As the original game already was one of the biggest and best (opinions out on best) on the PSX.

CHrono Trigger will always be the best and in all ways doesn't need to be remade. But if they ever could...and if anyone would be crazy enough to attempt it, Chrono Cross would be one of the games I would love to see remade.
