Default 4000 points - covering all the bases

Ok, I'm going to treat myself to 4000 VC points for when I'm off work over christmas, and I'm wondering what games I should get. I want to cover all the bases: puzzle, platform, shoot em up, beat em up etc.

My VC collection so far consists of:

Adventures of Lolo
Bubble Bobble
Bomberman 93
Fu Man Chu
Donkey Kong Country 2
Ghouls n Ghosts
Kirby's Adventure
Neutopia II
R Type
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
The Legend of Zelda: a link to the past

So, recommend me 4000 points of gaming fun! Open to any and all suggestions.

Paper Mario (1000)
Super Metroid (800)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (500)
Gunstar Heroes (800)
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (800)
Total = 3900 points

All great games

Paper Mario, N64 (1000)
Gunstar Heroes, Mega Drive (800)
Air Zonk, Turbografx (600)
Dynamite Headdy, Mega Drive (800) (I'd recommend Sonic, or Ristar, but for those you'd be better off with Sonic Mega Collection)
Super Metroid, SNES (800)
=4000.

That's a good range of games there, I tried to do what you asked and suggested a range of types of games. It's lacking a beat 'em up and a puzzle game, but each game I suggested is different from the others.

I'd include Streets of Rage 2 somewhere in there. Specially if you've never played/finished it.

Thanks, guys! Lots of votes for Gunstar Heroes so that's going on the list. Paper Mario is also recommended by almost everyone, but as I already have Paper Mario TTYD unfinished for the cube, I'm not sure I'll get that one (just yet). I also have the Sonic Collection for the cube, so won't be picking up any of those.

I haven't bought Ocarina. Reason is I already have it TWICE on GameCube discs! (one with Wind Waker - also has Master Quest on the disc, and another on Zelda Collector's Edition which also has the two NES games and Majora's Mask)

Okay, my recommendations are:

Super Metroid (SNES)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Castlevania IV (SNES)
Gunstar Heroes (Mega Drive)
Gate of Thunder (Turbografx-CD)

Call that a good 4,000 points well spent this Christmas!

I forgot about Super Mario World! One of the best games ever too.
