Seems odd that it'd be so expensive in Canada - it was surprisingly cheap here in Australia, the box set (game + slipcase + comic + Hand Cannons x 2) retailed for $90AUD which is the same price that games like Galaxy go for on their own. The box set was a no-brainer for me.
The game itself is almost pitch-perfect. Nails the whole style, (mostly) funny, and the twist at the end is... wow. Shooting the zombies feels so much more visceral than the older games, and I like that they'll really **** you up if they get in close, unlike in the other games where they back up after every shot. The different weapons are fun but really unbalanced - the shotguns are so much better than everything else it's not even funny. Calibration is good and can be done on the fly, and beating Directors' Cut unlocks a dual-wield mode - hell yes! My only complaints are that the bosses look great but are too easy, and there are little hiccups just before you fire your weapon when there are a lot of zombies on screen - annoying, but not a deal-breaker. |
